Hey guys,

I've been a bit absent in contributing to here recently (although I've still been reading) so I thought I'd put this up as a place I can just randomly fire some recent coverage into.

I've been very fortunate these last two years. I was picked up by EA's Speedhunters as an associate editor and bumped up to their UK & Ireland editor earlier this year. This job has brought me to a lot of places I thought I'd never visit and has allowed me to photograph things I thought I'd never see.

Anyways, enough shit talk - here are some of my favourite events / shoots from the last year.

Needless to say, it's been a hectic year with - thankfully - no signs of slowing down. The next couple of weeks, all going to plan, should cover the ADAC Zurich Nurburgring 24HR, Goodwood Festival of Speed and some car festival in Norway called Gatebil :)

Thanks for looking !

I was hugely jealous when I saw you'd got the Speedhunters gig, but it's well deserved and there are some cracking car shots in here. Loved the shoot of the NFS AE86 too, the pics kept me entertained while I flew out to Mallorca recently. Good to see you're doing well, looking forward to seeing some more of your work.

Cheers mate, everyone thinks it's a glamorous gig but nothing could be further from the truth. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my job but it's damn hard work 365 days of the year. That '86 shoot didn't go great to be honest, I was really pissed off with the results but the deadline was so tight I didn't have much option but to roll with it.

You gota love that subi running that curb too hard. I always loved the garage shots that yourself and speedhunters post, I really want to take some like it sometime.

My favourite photo is this... I have to ask to recreate this effect did you just dodge and burn a lot?
PS: Man what I would give to shoot for speedhunters! Too bad there is not a Canadian or a north eastern position available.

Heh, it's OK I understand; my job is exactly the same. Some awesome opportunities and experiences, but they're not gifted, I have to work bloody hard for them! Don't beat yourself up about the shoot, I'm picky as hell when it comes to photography and I really liked the images. The one that sticks in my mind was a large dark and moody shot of the 86 driving away, really atmospheric shot.

One of the best threads ever! Keep up the good work Paddy, your photos speak for themselves!

It's the same photograph processed twice - once for the background and once for the car, then mask the two together. There were also two strobes lighting the shadows of the car. It's a very straight forward method of shooting / processing but the turnaround time for the photographs was insanely short ! (From shooting to publishing was less than two / three hours)

Thanks Paddy, that makes perfect sense. The results speak for themselves! I will have to give this a go sometime in the near future.

I recently fulfilled a life long dream of mine to visit New York.

I'm still unable to explain the attraction but the pull the place has on me has always been strong. The city had a lot to live up to and it delivered on each and every count. This was more of a holiday than a working trip so I brought only the one body and two prime lenses (35 F1.4L & 135 F2L) which limited me slightly. Anyways, enough bullshit, let me know what you think !
