i've seen a lot of very good renderings, but this has got to be the best! it looks absolutely relaistic! amazing work

^ yes, he/she probably had a sketch tha was scanned, and then rendered ("coloured") in photoshop.

I found a hardback book of completely phtorealistic phtoshop images in japan town last time i was there. Just like the bike like they all looked completely real - until you started looking at the details.

Really impressive stuff. I wonder how long it takes?

Wow, freaky that I found this thread just as I finished one of my own:

renze_rispens_bluebike.jpg

I made this during the weekend (well, friday and monday included.. I take too many breaks). While not really photoreal, I did try to get there as much as possible within a reasonable timespan. Hope you guys like it.

That's hot! 8)

wow, thats hot indeed.

how did you make it? sketch-> scan-> render, or 3d max -> render, or just using photoshop from A to Z,.....?

anyway, very nice work!!! 8)

^Yeah  I think many of us are interested ;)

Hey guys, glad you like it!! I'm still a student actually, I study product design but did my internship at Daihatsu (had a great time there.. awesome people there). Hope to one day end up in the automotive industry.. :)
I have a portfolio on my site (I see you found it ;) ) as well as some photos I took during my trips and internship.

I'm working on a tutorial actually for that bike.. it's all photoshop.. started with some photoshop thumbnail sketches, enlarged it and traced it mostly.. from there on it was one big excercise in patience :)
I'll post here when I have the tutorial finished.. (there's more design related stuff on a forum I run with a buddy of mine: http://www.productdesignforums.com (sorry for the spam ;) ))

Both are nice, very nice but dutch_desginers is better ;)

- Dude, your site is awesome!!  As for the drawings..I'm speechless especially because I'm into design as well. They have a "professional" look. Very nice...
- Right now I'm only 17 so I really have no idea of how to use photoshop or how to render stuff (dont know how to use AutoCad or Alias Maya either)... I do hope they teach you those things because imagination in my drawings isnt a thing that I'm missing. I like how you design anything, not only cars. I, personally, only love cars (although I used to draw weapons when I was a little kid ) Honestly, my dream is becoming a car designer thats why I want to go towards engineering and design.
- By the way, how old are you? And where did you learn to do those nice things (rendering etc)? Any tips for someone like me?
- All my drawings are done in pencil and lets say they dont look perfect (meaning.. I found it kinda hard to keep proportions, especially in 3D drawings, like one of my wheels would look odd, or some of my lines wont be parallel etc -- hope you understand).
- I did read some tips and tried to copy the way "pro" designers work (this is what I'm talking about http://www.cardesignnews.com/studio/tutorials/index.php ) Although they helped me a lot, I still have a lot of problems (as I said, I hope there's a place where they teach you those things).
- I'd guess you learned them in Netherlands, somewhere. Anyway, please help me if you can...

Edit: Fblacka, Tranceshakeel, Salar, I like your drawings as well, any tips for me..?
Edit #2: Do you guys think is better to try to draw a real car or one from my imagination?
Edit #3: Josty, I think your drawings look better than you think.

> It's good that you enjoy drawing, we don't have these things here, but I read that schools in the US like Art Center have summer classes or night classes for automotive design as well as fine art and probably others.. that might be something for you. Other than that, just keep practising, a good tip is not to focus on cars (you can get stuck in a habit of using only 1 camerapoint or set of proportions)... try to draw the stuff you see on your desk, the basic stuff.. Take a look at http://www.drawthrough.com, browse the portfolio and tutorials.. it's a good indication of what they can teach you at a school like Art Center or CCS

- By the way, how old are you? And where did you learn to do those nice things (rendering etc)? Any tips for someone like me?

> I'm 25 and too old to be still in uni ;) I learned this stuff during drawing classes here, but I had to discover quite a bit on my own as well. The focus at my school isn't so much at drawing as it might be on other schools.

- All my drawings are done in pencil and lets say they dont look perfect (meaning.. I found it kinda hard to keep proportions, especially in 3D drawings, like one of my wheels would look odd, or some of my lines wont be parallel etc -- hope you understand).

> Try to move away from pencil and get some ballpens or fineliners. At uni you'll have to ditch the pencils asap and learn that you might not have time to start erasing things over and over again ;)

> Sure you get to learn perspective and such at a good school, but it's good that you try and get a head-start.. wish I had done that :) Don't worry too much about it, if you put in the hours and keep enjoying yourself, you'll get where you want to be.

- I'd guess you learned them in Netherlands, somewhere. Anyway, please help me if you can...

> Well if you need further help, you can always drop by at http://www.productdesignforums.com ... we prefer to see sketches of regular objects instead of cars though, we see too many people who keep having the same problems because the cars are the only things they draw :)
It might be interesting for you to check out the Gnomon Workshop, besides drawing classes they have excellent material on dvd.. checkout some dvd's by Feng Zhu, Harald Belker and Scott Robertson (great perspective guy). http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com
