Hey dudes...since many come to this Off Topic Area, I'll am Intentionally posting this here. :)

As the title says, Our Photoshopping Thread is losing entrants and losing popularity... They're are two options, either end it completely or try to attract more people to enter.

So I urge you guys, whatever your skill to participate in our contests at least once...

As there are many people here who have visited other forums, I request them to PM me some names of FORUMS so that I can increase the forums which shall run a joint Chopping Competition..Dieselstation has not had any entries for the last 2 months now...

Thanks in asvance and PL PM me some forum names..

I dont think other forum names will help, most forums dont really require active participation in orcer to submit an entry. Plus, there are more and mroe specialised ps chopping forums where a lot of people go.

I'll be finally able to. I was having issue with both my computers but one of them is fixed....for now. :)

The problem with an area like PS contests is that initially it gets a lot of attention, but soon people become tired of trying to get a picture in by the deadline. Some of us, like me, are in school, and up to our ears in homework (even though I don't participate) and don't have the time for it. Also, those who aren't very good at PS and don't have a lot of time to develop PS skills can't be bothered to enter because others will always be better.

A suggestion might be to change the style of the contest - maybe extend the deadline to give people a longer time to perfect their chop.

I don't know - that's just my $0.02.

Wish I had someone to show me how to use PS... :(

That's not neccesary. Get yourself an earlier version like PS7, read some basic tutorials and you should be able to create something half decent in a week. Sure, creating "the" perfect chop will take you months, but the basic stuff is fairly easy.

I started with MS paint and a week later I created this:

Not perfect but not rubbish either.

About the challenge. I think I stopped submitting pics because I realized that I'll never get decent points. A lot of the chops were quality material but as mentioned earlier in another thread, the voting was a little strange as well. People voted for the flashier or funny pics even if those often were of lesser quality.

Just go screw around with all the buttons. In a matter of hours you'll have learnt all the basics.

Thats how i got started.

don't have time, nor do I have PS, and the quality of the entries are now of a level too high for me

i concur

Hmmm, the quality of the entries? Tbh, i havenst seen lately anything impressive... From time to time there's a chop or another that is nice work, but other than that I think lately some chops are waaay overestimated. Partly the reason why i dont participate anymore.

Hi, I'm interested in learning how to use photoshop. How do you cut a car out from another picture A, and put it onto picture B? Does anyone have a link to a tutorial on how to do that? BTW, I have PhotoShop CS2 Version 9.0.

For example, I want to put the car from this picture http://img291.imageshack.**/img291/305/img09711du.th.jpg, into this picture http://img370.imageshack.**/img370/9571/img08970zv.th.jpg.

Thanks.

You might wanna start with something easier for the begining. Even though this seems as easy task, placing a car into a different environment is not that easy. (in the upper 2 images it wont be hard because the lightning etcis all the same).

Anyway, a good place to start (and probably the most common one): http://digimods.co.uk/tutorials/tutorials.htm

btw, look in the ps section here, we have resources thread, tutorials thread, etc

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out. Would it be easier if I manually erase the first pic's background leaving only the car? Then can it be easily imported to the second pic? Thanks.

It doesnt work like that.
Hmmm, how should i explain this.
Here's an extreme example. Picture A - taken on a very sunny day, on the seaside. Imagine the photographer was standing on a 2metre ladder, and took the picture from above.
Picture B - taken during the night, in pitcblack conditions, and imagine the photogrpaher put his camera onto the ground.
You CAN NOT copy the car from picture A onto B. Commonsense will tell you that it wont work.

BTW, why erase the background? Use the lasso or pen tool in PS to select only the car, thats all you need. but as i said, its not that easy. I'll demonstrate it later when i have some time.

I purposely took the two pictures in a similar angel/weather condition. So the car in picture A should fit into picture B with a little be of adjusting. But I can't get PS to select the car only (sry, I haven't read the link you provided in detail yet), so if I manually erased the background, PS should be able to just select the car right? Thanks for the help.

Personally I would like to see the thread continue. I am teaching myself how to use photoshop so I can participate. It's just a matter of finding time.

What you you mean you coulndt select the car? you can select anything, click on lasso tool and start draging around. Did you manually erase all the background with the earaser???? :?

I was intrigued, and decided to do some work - but I checked out your thread, and there's no competition on at the moment. I'd be willing to participate, but I might lose my buzz soon.
