I need help building a new pc which will be used for surfing, movies and music plus light gaming. I dont want to spend to much money and want this to last for the next 3-5 years.

So here it is 9400 Core 2 quad or I5 750.

Which mother board fits well with either of them?

what Video card is suitable for light gaming and sort of Home Cinema PC BTW I'm using samsung P2370g DVI monitor.

I've read other thread but I have limited access with parts.

I can only get parts from here http://pcgilmore.com.ph/downloads/pricelist_lettersize.pdf

Help, I'm not good with computer building.

You will need to define "light gaming", playing Crysis every other weekend will still demand very much from your computer.

Yup, need to know your definition of light gaming, If you like crysis, etc, it may be worth sacrificing a bit of CPU to get a better graphics card.

The i5 is a very good CPU though and wipes the floor with most of the Core 2 CPUs it should last you a good long time. Be aware though that in the list there, they have bundled the i5 in with the socket 775 CPUs,

Socket 775 -> newer Pentiums, Core 2 Duo / Quad & Extremes
Socket 1156 -> i3, i5 & some i7s
Socket 1336 -> the rest of the i7s.

At the moment the only chipset for the i5 / Socket 1156 is the intel P55, so make sure that's what you get if you go for an i5.

When I'm looking for a motherboard, I usually go for the cheapest from a known brand that has all the stuff I need on and nothing more.

E.g. 1 x PCIe, e-SATA, on-board sound and No on-board graphics.
Also it's easy enough to look at hardware review sites to see what they are raving about this particular minute.

Just made a computer for a friend, with the following...

* Motherboard GIGABYTE P55M-UD2 uATX ?81.90
* Memory OCZ DIMM 2 GB DDR3-1333 ?59.90
* Graphics Card XFX HD4890 ?145
* HDD Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB ?87

And he's VERY happy to say the least. the rest of the computer he carried over from his old one.

My PC is a Q6600 with an Nvidia GTS8800 (640Mb), it's 3 years old now and has absolutely no problems whatsoever displaying any sort of media, Bluray included.

Game wise, Crysis is playable but not at full resolution and with the detail turned down a bit. Fallout 3 looks very pretty and I've had no slowdowns at all and there my game experience ends I'm afraid. Again, look on hardware sites for benchmarks and get the best card you can afford.

Thanks ^ I'm going to check I5 configuration.
