PORN! caution: don't enter without high-speed internet

and it's a huge misconception that an ambr winner and other show cars are trailer queens. for the most part, they cars are driven regularly, especially chip foose's creations. they're made to be drivable.

Chip Foose's more recent AMBR/Riddler cars have cost him several years to make, plus god only knows how much money. If the (eventual) owners ever drive them in anger for more than a foot they've broke a world record.

I believe the car you pictured he said took him and his shop 3 or 5 years to build. Thats not a car, or even a machine, it's a piece of art. Just in the case it's not all that great IMO.

There really needs to be more car shows where the entrants are required to drive the cars hard, or at this point even start the damn engines up, before they can be eligible for the award.

I REALLY dislike show cars it goes completely against the reason to own a car. I'm even more against credit card hot rods. There are exceptions to those rules, but this is not one of them.

feel free to post your fetish.:) i can appreciate cars of all genres.

Too bad the rules say I can't post the girl impaling herself on the shifter of a Mitsubishi 3000GT/GTO.

That's poor man talking, the guy who had Chip and his team buid the Impression wasn't looking for a daily driver, he was looking for a piece of art to put in his stable, instead of late model Evo etc, which are crap that anybody can go out and buy.

Impression is the greatest Street Rod ever build and C. Foose is still the king of the car desing.

The Impression would definately make my top 3 list of list of greatest cars (custom or factory build) along with B. Johnsons 'cuda, another car that took the muscle car building to a whole new level...

Peace out...

As long as it's useable, it's all good. Otherwise you might as well pull the bloody engine out of it.

Not daily driving it is fine. Putting a car on a plinth (that is perfectly safe to drive) is utterly pointless. Especially considering Foose claims to build cars to be driven, no matter how much work he puts into them. I'm sure he cringes when someone goes with in 5 feet of any cars he's got on the show circuit though.

I look at beautiful cars as art you can enjoy in far more ways than just looking at them. Not driving them is making them no different than a poster on the wall.

I saw the 2006 the other day, and it's even better-looking in person. It's just a really good-looking design, though it's not really a hot rod - it's more automotive art than anything. I respect Foose designs, but I really, really dislike Boyd Coddington and his 1-800-HOTROD shitmobiles.

i'm really suprised so many of you assume major show winners to be trailer queens. they may not be driven everyday, but alot of the big winners and famous hot rods are indeed driven. for example, billy f gibbons drives his rods. joe rogan drives his "sick fish", the badass barracuda troy trepanier built for him.

this is like assuming the worlds most exclusive supercars aren't driven "properly". bob rapp of greensboro, north carolina was the first to take delivery of an enzo in north america. he registered 1,200 miles within the first month. he went through the $6,000 carbon brake pads and $24,000 rotors within the first couple of months. best yet, he ignored ferrari's warnings, and he let car and driver magazine test his car.

not everyone trailers or garages their nice cars. many shows have awards for cars that drove the furthest distance to the show. others have an outright ban on trailered vehicles. granted, none of the major national ones that i'm aware of have the ban.

You promised me Porn and give me that?
I can appreciate the interior of the second car but that's it. Not a fan of the cars or the Hot Rod design in general. They all look odd to me. Hot Rods just aren't a part of our culture.

Agreed, I think they look stupid. I can appreciate the work that must go into them but they just don't float my boat.

There are exceptions to the usual rule that show winners are trailer queens. But I don't believe "Sick Fish" actually won anything, it was just a car Joe Rogan wanted built to drive. Many of the show winners are so expensive to build they have to get a customer in on it to help finance it. AMBR and Riddler are definitely awards that fit that bill.

Billy Gibbons I don't think will own a car he's not going to drive. When Cadzilla was finished being built (I believe it was built by Foose and Coddington back when Chip worked for Boyd), he told Boyd to have a couple guys drive it out to him so he could see it. He was on tour at the time. Everyone was a bit surprised, especially since it was supposed to go on the show circuit.

BTW, most of the cars shops build to go for AMBR or Riddler usually spend at least a year on the show circuit, rarely if ever do the owners get to do much more than rev the engine and drive it around the block until after they are off the show circuit.

so there must be vids around of hot rods being driven hard?
can't find any though

Any Drag strip in the States will have a number of old fords and chevy's running anything from 26 second 1/4 mile times with an old I-6 in it up to and beyond 8 seconds and struggling to keep their front wheels on the ground.

Finding a show winner (with some ungodly powerful engine) running the 1/4 mile in anything but a parade manner is practically impossible.

I don't care what anyone else says, but that car is gorgeous. end of story

wasn't talking about dragracing, you chassis may be made from spaghetti, and you suspension from jelly, and you'll still be able to drag

And this mentality is why a 1000hp Supra can't outrun a 600hp Mustang at the drag strip.

But hey, at least the supra makes 334hp per litre right?
