Post a pic of yourself

Nice!

Slow progress is real sustainable progress.
And time enough to figure it out since for the most part I've got no idea what I'm doing. :D

Never been much of a person for pictures. However today I took a selfie for the first time in a long time. For reference the first shot is from ringmeet last year. The picture today is after some time trying to get back in to shape.

Today. About 20kg down from the ringmeet

But you looked happier at ringmeet!

Started grad school in 2012 at 185 lbs (84 kg) and was eating like crazy, not sleeping correctly, and put on a lot of weight. I left grad school in 2014 at 216 lbs (98 kg). After joining this job, I maxed out at 232 lbs (105.25 kg), and was between 225 to 232 (102-105 kg) from 2014 to 2019.

I had an operation on my heart to check on a genetic condition in November 2016. I was pre-hypertensive and pre-diabetic and started noticing signs of it. Acanthosis nigracans, blood sugar issues, sleep apnea, depression, and a whole bunch of other shit. Decided to take back control of my life. I don't have the vast majority of these issues anymore, plus I got my face back. The first picture on the right is me today. The others on the right were from two to three weeks ago.

Still pushing for 175-180 lbs. If I can be at that range I'd be happy. Quarantine is putting a huge damper on muscle growth but I started running to supplement for the lack of gym. After 16 years of not being able to do so I finally managed to run a mile nonstop the other day, and started beating my time for running a mile.

Before

After

Do it man, you won't regret it!

NGL, Altoid has been a huge motivator as he's been doing his thing as well, and killing it. We're here if you ever need brotivation.

Adding to this topic, I lost a bit over 9kg (20-ish lbs) since mid-February. I gained a lot (5 kilo) over the last months of 2019. Since early 2020, I half-assedly tried to lose some again. But after seeing an episode of "Fat Families" on YouTube and @_Jules_ telling me to buy new shirts since everything I owned looked too small, I decided to get serious.

This means:
  • Interval fasting - I only eat between 12:30 and 20:30
  • Radically cutting down on snacks - I allow myself Ice cream or a chocolate bar twice a week but the days of mindless eating sweeets after lunch or in front of the tv all the time are over
  • Running 5km every second day at least
  • Corona-enforced home office means not eating cheap lunch options somewhere near the office every day, which radically made my diet more healthy
The results:

EDIT: Also, hairdressers are back open!
