we’ll see how long it takes for the novelty to wear off.

You mean how long for the spring-loaded endlinks to grind out the inside of your lugs?

Yeah, I plan to Dremel down the endlinks to minimize the tension. I've switched it to a rubber strap for the summer anyway so the lugs are safe for now.

I don't drive, I fly.
I don't care for Richard Mille but the engineering is undeniable.
Also, an interesting detail:

" Unlike Piaget and Bulgari’s ultra-thin watches, which use the caseback as a baseplate, Richard Mille has assembled the 1.18mm manual-winding movement INSIDE the case."

By some minor miracle my special order GS arrived TWO DAYS after I put down my deposit which meant it was already on the way to my local boutique and I was just lucky enough to claim it.

The SLGH009 limited edition Hi Beat 550 pieces worldwide to celebrate the 55th anniversary of their heritage 44GS case.

Here's the official press release from last month https://grandseikogs9club.com/chronicle-9/grand-seiko-44gs-limited-edition-slga013-slgh009/

So after half a year of bracelet wear, I took the bracelet off to change things up and turn it into another strap beast.

First with a 19mm Barton brand rubber strap

Then with another custom made leather strap with gold deviated stitching courtesy of HD Straps 👍🏼

Sold my old G Shock mid sized Casioak and replaced it with a full sized version of the new metal case Casioak, this has quickly turned into one of my favorite 'do everything' daily wears:

Was in Las Vegas last weekend with my family, got to window shop at a couple boutiques, had first class treatment from staff:

Some highlights were the JLC Master Ultra Thin moonphase and Breitling B09 Heritage Chronograph 👍🏼

This has to be the least versatile watch I have, but that's not a bad thing at all. I present to you the Credor Linealx spring drive, reference GCLH977.

Subtle silver sunburst dial, faceted Zaratsu-polished case, and blued hands. I've been trying different straps on it, and even this informal gray one looks dressy on it. Definitely not a wear-anywhere watch, but I'm happy to just stare at it at home most of the time. And on the back:

Feast your eyes on the glory of a manual-wind spring drive movement. This phone camera doesn't even begin to capture the iridescence of the striping, or the polish on the caseback elements too.

Last GS purchase for a while (I swear): this time it's the limited SBGJ261 blue dial variant of the famous 'Peacock' GMT. Limited to 500 pieces worldwide.

The dial pattern is simply unreal and stunning in person 😍

How long did it take you to get used to the bulkiness of GS cases? I went to a boutique a few days ago to try on a bunch of their stuff, and apart from the manual-wind stuff, they're pretty tall on the wrist in a way I'm not a fan of.

The Hi Beat GMTs are indeed thick (14mm) and I owned (and subsequently sold) an earlier LE with a different dial pattern and yeah it did bug me somewhat.

But for some reason I'm kind of over that now with this particular design, but that doesn't mean I've become a fan of thick cases in general, I still prefer to keep them 12mm and slimmer when possible.

With this watch in particular I don't think about it at all, doesn't feel excessively bulky and I enjoy wearing it.

Picked up some cheap fun off of AliExpress: a 38mm manual wind Sugess Chronograph using the Seagull ST1901 movement.

MoonSwatches are starting to become reasonably available now in Swatch stores and multiple global popups in cities without official Swatch boutiques. Friend of mine who was hunting for some was able to snag a Mission to Pluto for me.

Haven't even taken it out of box yet, I ordered a Barton silicon rubber strap to replace the crappy velcro strap included with the watch.

Made a pilgrimage to both Grand Seiko boutiques in NYC over the weekend (the original on Madison Ave and the Watches of Switzerland collab in SoHo). Had my WoS exclusive SBGM241 GMT on wrist:

The sales staff at both stores were cool but I really enjoyed spending time at the much larger and newer SoHo boutique, they had a really interesting collection of much more rare pieces on display (everything was for sale BTW)
