Problem with random internet timeout

Recently, since July in fact, I've had problems with getting totally random timeouts while browsing the interweb.

Ping, nslookup and tracert works fine all the time, so that counts the DNS out (I think). Both time at day and what website I'm browsing is totally random. Let's say I'm browsing the FG forums on minute and when I'm making a post and trying to submit it, I get a timeout and have to wait a couple of minutes before it finds it again. The funny thing is that stuff like MSN and IRC is always connected...

Clues? :( I tried to email my ISP and gave them tons of information but they seemed totally clueless.

EDIT: Sum stuff from my email to the ISP:

- The problem occurs on all of the computers in the house. Time of day is totally random.
- All PC's has Win XP with all patches and updates
- No virus or spyware on any of the PC's
- I've tried to disconnect the modem for a long time but the problem was still there
- The modem is a Speedtouch 546i v6
- Which browser I'm using has nothing to say
- I've done no changes to router/modem configuration

Stop downloading furry porn and max out your line I say!

(serious: I really mean it, my torrenting kept disconnecting me when I had too many connections up)

Just to make sure I'm clear, when you get this timeout and have to wait a couple of minutes, and you try to ping, nslookup or tracert forums.finalgear.com during that same time, that still works?
If that's truly the case then I would think that traffic for only selected ports (like 80 for HTTP) are being blocked or delayed.
In that case I would suspect a problem with a firewall / router (not necessarily yours, could be the ISP or somewhere down the line).

Of course it could also be too much lutefisk in the tubes.

If those are working that narrows to down to the Application layer; The problem would then have to be with the browser you are using. I assume that when you "timeout" Pinging, nslookup, and tracert work? If that is correct then download a new browser, firefox possibly?

The answer is: yes.

I've used Firefox since version 1.0. It cant be the application layer since which browser I use doesnt matter.

EDIT: New firmware on router installed.

EDIT2: Still getting timeouts... :(

Hmm, my router has something called Stateful Packet Inspection, I'll try to disable that.
