Problem with video playback speed?

I just got done downloading a bunch of new episodes of Top Gear. All of Season 6 and the 2 (1 and 3) season 7 episodes.
Whenever i try to play them, the audio is played back at regular speed and it seems like the video is about 10 seconds behind. It gets really annoying trying to watch it when they are talking about something else.

I read the website stated that the new rips were done with Xvid instead of the previous DivX. I did not have Xvid, so I downloaded and installed it off of the link provided. I am still having the same problem with playback after install of Xvid.

I am trying to use WMplayer to play them and it just isn't working right. Did I not install Xvid correctly or should I be using a different player?

Well, you probably have some sort of problem with your codecs.
Try using VLC ( http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ ) to check if it is (since VLC doesn't use codecs).

The VLC player works fine and i am noticing no slow downs inthe video at all.

Any suggestions if I wanted to keep using WMplayer what I should look at updating or reinstalling etc?
