The Camaro will come in LS, LT and full-on SS specs and be available with 6-speed manual and auto transmissions. Under the bonnet sit fuel-efficient 296bhp 3.6-liter V6 and 416bhp 6.2-liter V8 engines, which can run on fewer cylinders to improve economy.

It shouldn't just be a burnout king either, handling should be pretty good thanks to an all-independent suspension setup and a StabiliTrak stability control system. 4-pot Brembo brakes front and rear shed the speed on the SS. Weight balance is split 52/48 front/rear too, but the Camaro is a porker, weighing in at more than 1,700kgs.

The interior gets cool LED lighting, leather seats on posher models and dials and gauges inspired by 1969 Camaros. The US gets the car in early 2009, while we'll get it some time after that. Super.

Here she is bitches and I love it!!!!!

If anyone was wondering why it says "bonnet" in the description it seems that a UK site released the photos before they were supposed to.

I like it... based on looks only, I probably couldn't decide which one I'd buy between mustang, camaro and charger.

Another thing I noticed, it is an RS and the RS designation is not mentioned in the description from the UK site.

1700kgs!?! Isn't that like 3750lbs? That's about 500lbs more than it should be.

With all the mandated safety equipment, that's a lightweight for that size of car.

For comparison, take a look at what the M3 weighs - ~3500lbs despite all the lightweight exotic materials like carbon fiber used in it.

Said who? It's lighter than the Challenger.

Dont like the front, although it does look pretty badass. The interior looks pretty sweet and I like the retro style gauges and dials which are a cool touch. This is based on the same platform which was created by Holden for their VE Commodore (Pontiac G8 for the Americans), so there's a nice Aussie flavour to be had there ;).

Who's bright fucking idea was it to put gauges down out of the way under the radio like that? Gauges should ALWAYS be put where you can fucking see them without taking your eyes of the road. Especially the oil pressure gauge! WTF GM? :idiot: :idiot: :idiot:

Have you looked at what modern cars weigh? The new Mustang is 3900lbs, the challenger is going to be in similar territory. BMW's 3 series struggle to get under 3700lbs. These cars aren't small anymore, and their loaded down with a bunch of junk.

I think you mean Challenger, not Charger?

Also, Mustang= no IRS, Camaro=IRS. Add the fact that the Camaro's nicer looking, has a better interior (we're talking relative here) and more powerful (much more powerful) and more modern engines and it's not really even close.

I'm getting bored with all these goddamn press releases. RELEASE THE DAMN CAR ALREADY! The oil readouts and fuel gauge below the radio looks cool, but is hopelessly impractical and slightly awkward. I want to see a comparison before making any statements.

Actually the M3 weighs right around ~3700 lbs, and as far as I know the only place you'll find carbon fiber is on the roof of the coupe. The M3 sedan only weighs 20 lbs more than the M3 coupe, and that's with another two doors and it doesn't have the carbon fiber roof. So unless the doors on the M3 coupe are quite heavy, it doesn't seem like the carbon fiber roof is saving that much weight.

Also I heard that the Z/28 with the supercharged 500+ hp V8 was dropped.

EDIT: Also I noticed that I now have 7,000 posts. I should really stop spending every waking moment on this site.

okay, now there's 2 American cars that I'd love to own.. 2008 Viper SRT10 coupe and this..

why are you all looking at me funnily? I might defend GT-R to my death but that doesn't prevent me lusting after properly done american cars. especially since this one has independent suspension all round.

I like it. Hopefully it will cause Ford to up the ante on the Mustang as a result.

The front isn't good looking enough, the interior isn't good looking enough..

fuck all that I want one asap
