Spec Racer Ford!
So here's my sad story. I'm fairly, well, non-artistic when it comes to paint schemes. And I'm about to purchase a Spec Racer Ford, which looks like this (me driving someone else's car):

Well, the car I am buying has a mottled up paintjob and needs to be re-painted (which is being thrown into the deal). That said, it can't be too fancy a paintscheme...it has to be some that can be fairly simply taped off and painted...no ghost flames or anything.

Part of me is thinking along the lines of the old Sunoco Porsche 917 Can-Am car. Another part of me is thinking a Brumos Prosche style design where the car is white with two big think strips running front to back -- one red and one blue.

But I thought I'd see if anyone wanted to give it a quick whirl. What you get out of the deal is an 13x19" print (a couple if you want) as well as credit and cookies :) And I'd be very grateful!

There are more pictures of ME in the Spec Racer at http://photos.interceptor.com/ and probably a million differenent images scattered throughout the internet :)

I?m not at all talented when it comes to graphics, photoshop, etc. but here?s a suggestion: Gulf livery!

as far as I?m concerned racecar paintjobs don?t get any better than this...

I am so bored at the moment, I decided to photoshop my favourite idea, the Brumos Porsche design onto your car. Hope you like it. Took me long enough.

The number isn't too good, but I didn't have the right font and couldn't be bothered to find it. So don't mark me down for it not being perfect.

Oh man...that is SWEET. Seeing it like that...it looks about 9 million times better than I thought it would!

No worries about the number; the '97' number is actually Dave's and since he's had it for 10 years I wouldn't fight him for it. I'd probably go with 29 (my wife's birthday) which I think is unused in the SF Region of the SCCA for Spec Racers.

First thing that came to my mind, the Porsche 908

Well, I ended up buying a different car that didn't come with a repaint. But it's somewhat rough, so I suspect a repaint is in the near future -- perhaps after the "first crash" everyone says to wait for.

Cool about the sim...might have to get one one of these days :)

How about a Buddy Palumbo Special...one side red, the other side black, split down the middle with the Italian tricolor stripe.

If you were a true club racer, you would know what I'm talking about. ;)

But seriously, I would pick your favorite color, use that for the base, then it's opposite primary color for the flash.

That's definitely colourful! I might have to think of something more like that when we do a repaint!

Here's another shot of the current look (although the number is being changed to 29 next week)

I can try something

everything looks good in Gulf livery!

are there some colors you like to see it in ?

All very nice, though you could try something that would make the car instantly recoginisable, like this.
