Yes but you like/dislike the top gear trio based on their behavior in each episode/series/whatever whereas racing drivers speak for themselves on the track and in interviews. 99% of them hate doing all this rubbish media promotion thing so they just do it out of obligation. We tend to think top gear isn't that way and most fans don't watch other interviews in which the guys appear.
 
The Vodafone marketing committee is brilliant. I can't see Ferrari/Santander doing something like this.
