Random Thoughts... [Automotive Edition]

I replaced a ton of those at my shop. They go bad a lot due to loud exhaust systems.
Nah, you probably installed them incorrectly. Most people don't read the installation guide which specifically mentions that a snipe clamp is required, otherwise it's not covered by their warranty.

Stirring things up? Saying I fix my own car is now stirring things up? lol, get a grip man.

You’ve registered on a forum frequented by mainly old regulars that know each other in person a lot of the time, and the first thing you do is to put on a strangely aggressive half-jerk persona. I’d take it a bit easier if I were you.

I did no such thing. And, if you were me, you would do what I do. Just because you don't like something I said doesn't give you any right to tell me what to do. Perhaps you should just ignore me. So, why does me fixing my own car upset you?

I agree with @Perc. It has nothing to do with you repairing your own vehicle, it is with your attitude.

Does that mean I don’t need to figure out how to use the “ignore user” feature?

Well that's a shame, I still hadn't decided if he was a bot. His photos are all copyrighted to the same person, but from over 10 years ago and taken with a different camera to the ones he mentioned. :hmm:

Well, i would have thought maybe a bit more snow plowing would have been done over night…

Yeah it was pretty bad this morning still. Then again, it did snow until like 11 pm or something? Looks pretty, though :p

I must say our local (Frechen) winter service is surprisingly good! They're even doing the little side streets, very early and in the middle of the night, and - especially noteworthy - they have smaller little plows doing most bicycle lanes! I am actually considering just dropping the city an email to commend them for that...

When I dropped my daughter off at kindergarten this morning, gmaps still showed +60min and 4 crashes on the A4 for my commute to work (usually 40min)... so I went back home. Now it looks much better, only +20 left and no crashes shown. So I may end up going after all, since I carelessly agreed to take a speaking part in an event this evening... with a total speeking time of about 90 seconds. WORTH. ffs.

I go to Frechen to pick up parts from the Weishaupt Köln office that’s there. :D

Let’s just say Jülich, is not Frechen….

Today I saw a Nissan e-NV200. It was beached on a snow covered traffic divider, but that's beside the point. It had Norwegian plates and the Norwegian border is 500 kilometers away. This is a van that had 150 kilometers of rated highway range when new, and you won't be seeing anywhere near that when it's -20°C like it's been for a couple of weeks now.

I wonder how many charging stops it took to get here. With Chademo.

It must've been a slow news day yesterday, because they had someone on the news complaining that his electric van (I think it was a VW) had terrible range in the cold weather. No shit Sherlock, you should've considered that when buying it. It's like people actively avoid the information and advice that's out there.

Unless the dealer outright lied about the winter performance, something I wouldn't put past VW.

More likely to cause outrage than "cat stuck in tree" I guess.
