Random Thoughts... [Entertainment Edition]

We don't use it much, so we haven't really noticed a difference.

Spent last night watching a british musician playing an infuriating game called Only Up on Twitch.
Funny as hell, watching him get annoyed, but, as the title says, the only objective is to get the character to climb up.
There are no save points. You fall, you start over if you don't manage to land on something part way down.

Actors take to the internet to show their residual checks, with some in the negative

How is it possible to owe money to a studio for them playing a movie or series? That is some magical accounting.

I've talked with people in bands trying to play in clubs, and in the end, they left the club with nothing, and had to pay the house "sound guy" because the bar didn't have enough customers that night.

That is B S too!

I downloaded Just Cause 4 on Gamepass because I liked 2 and 3. I had already heard that 4 was a bit shit but wow it's frustrating, like I'm trying to have fun but it's actively fighting me. Glitchy controls, a sparse and pretty boring map and situations timers that drag on for much longer than they should.

I'm still enjoying it though somehow, just because I get to blow shit up.

Despite its faults, I was still sort of enjoying Just Cause 4 until I tried to play a bit during my lunch break today. Not only did it lose progress from yesterday (reset a counter) but during a mission, Rico's magic grappling hook just stopped pulling things as it's supposed to. This made it impossible to complete the mission, as you have to pull some turbines out of the wall to destroy them.

Uninstalled. I had pretty much extracted all of the fun out of it anyway with a trainer that let me spawn a load of friendly drones and made some of the missions a bit more bearable.

I discovered (once again) that music can sometimes be a lot older than you think/feel.
My 10year old recently really got into listening to music and discovering new things and songs he likes. He started out listening to music I, my wife or his mother listen to, but bit by bit he is starting to find his own (current) taste. He also keeps a list of most of those songs in a Spotify list.
The last song he discovered was "Some nights" by Fun, so he said listen to this older song I discovered. And I was like "come on, you must have heard that song more than once on the radio, that song can't be older than 2years". Only to discover that song is actually older than he is :ROFLMAO: .

I have a playlist called 'Music with memories' and made a thread about it a little while before you joined, I'd recommend it but it does start to make you feel old. There are some tracks from 2008 that don't feel old, but when you think about it most 17 or 18 year olds won't have firm memories of those tracks if any at all. 😬

Every time I listen to Tom Petty.

It makes me remember when I was living in Round Lake, IL. Not a super amazing place but just the few short years I partially remember. Summers there with the house we had, huuuuge back yard, it was great.

Pretty much any Santana, The Eagles or Deep Purple song takes me back to long drives to our holiday destination with my parents, brother and sisters. Even though many of those memories turned sour due to other stuff, those are still songs/artist I will put in my playlist when we go on holiday.

There are some songs that bring me right back to playing Runescape after school.
Or if I hear any track from the original THPS2 soundtrack I instantly know they are from THPS2 and still know them word for word. (Shit now I Googled how old that game actually is).
Although I'm sort of a walking jukebox anyway, often a single word can trigger an entire song in my head and I know songs by heart I didn't even realize I ever heard or knew.

It's been sitting on a shelve lately, but I played the reignited trilogy a lot with my kids (and they still play it from time to time) and I really loved rediscovering it all together with them. It was their first game they played by themselves on our Xbox and it was one of the first games I really played too on a nephew's Playstation.

Age of Empires I and II, Spyro must be my earliest experiences with gaming. A couple months ago I learned my 10year old to play AoE II, which is a little harder then some other games since there is no Dutch language option, and he really loves it too. The nice thing is the kids laptop which is a 5year old base spec Acer can run the Definitive Edition effortlessly. If we'd let him he could spend hours on end playing it.
Also played it online together with him against a number of bots, my brother also joined us a couple of times. It's awesome to share more or less modern versions of games that are nostalgic to me (and my brother) with my kids.
