Random Thoughts (Political Edition)

It seems to me that attacking her like she was a groomer is based on the same false dichotomy that arises when people say that being against some extreme liberal ideas means to be againast marginalized people.

As she implies, there is a (very large) ground of sensible discussion to be had outside of slogans, fallacies, insults, propaganda.

Why does a corporation get it's own local government?

Leaked Marjorie Taylor Greene Texts Cast Doubt Upon Forgetful Testimony at Recent Disqualification Hearing

"On January 5, the day before the insurrection, Congresswoman Greene told her followers on her Facebook page, on a national broadcast, that 'Tomorrow is 1776,'" he began. "Now, that's the kind of rhetoric that, you know, we all can talk about historical references and so on, but in the context that she was dealing with it, where people understood that 1776 was code for break into the Capitol, do violence, and most importantly, block the certification of Joe Biden -- that is an act of insurrection. And we demonstrated and proved that"

"The 1776 is?" Berman interjected, to which Celli replied, "Yes."

Good news: France seems to have dodged fascism for the second election cycle in a row. Her years of cozying up to Putin probably came around to haunt her.
She still got the best result out of her three tries at becoming president. In times like these, over 40% of French voters voted for an anti-European racist who used her connection to Putin in advertisements up until recently (weeks after Russia had already invaded Ukraine), if not all the way up until election day. France has serious political problems.
I'm also relieved that she did not win, but let's face it: Many people did not vote for Macron, they voted against Le Pen. Macron needs to really step up to the challenge, or next time we (France, Europe, the West) will not be so lucky.

In other good news, Slovenia ousted their right-wing government in their election. And I'm glad they did, because as other countries (Hungary, Poland, ...) show, once those corrupt, or worse, downright autocratic and/or fascist governments stay in power too long, they make sure they can't lose an election ever again.
That's two wins for Europe, freedom, humanity, you name it, in one day. :)

Deutsche Bank whistleblower found dead in LA's Lincoln Park

A self-described “comically terrible spy” who is believed to have worked with federal authorities investigating the activities of Deutsche Bank and its ties with former President Donald Trump was found dead east of Lincoln Park, police said Tuesday.

Ugh, there've been gross billboards saying "Austin welcomes President Trump!" around advertising some appearance or other grift he's doing locally, and frankly, the only thing most of us "welcome" in that regard is the day we never have to hear about that insufferable, bigoted dingus ever again. His fans are in the minority here, to say the least.

Anyone who edits those into "Austin welcomes throwing President Trump into a volcano" would be a gott dang hero.
