Or it does the same to the right who have seen how low Dems are willing to stoop to push their agenda.

Compared to the republicans? You need to look back at the hypocrisy from the 90s.

The slight dip the Democrats seem to have taken is not enough to make the hole the republicans are in(generally) matter.

Damn commies!!! :shakefist:

Would love to see the actual metrics and design of the study. If there is a lot "social mobility" on paper doesn't mean a whole lot when you are taxed to death.

If you actually get a highly functioning country for your taxes, it's not so bad. :p

Pretty sure taxes and highly functioning country are antipodes

I guess you mean "high taxes", not taxes generally. No country can function without taxation of some form or level. The only Countries that have tried a no-tax approach are Comunist countries. Like North Korea. And of course NK is a great example for a functioning country ;) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taxation_in_North_Korea

What measurements does one apply to find out how well a country functions? I'd argue Corrpution is a good indicator and Denmark (as well as other "high taxes" Nations) from Northern Europe do very well in that aspect while some of the lowest taxed nations like China, Russia or Irak - do very badly there.

Taxation is theft

Is it? How would things like roads, sidewalks, and general town maintenance get funded?

That's the point. It's "I'd rather see civilisation gone then to contribute to society." - throwing us all back to 3000 BC. Yeah, around the Time writing became a thing People did. But sure, these people without taxation were probably much better off then we are now. Better not invest in this thing called civilisation, who knows where that may lead humanity

I think that line of thought is about as stupid as those hippies that want us to stop all industry and live in huts without electricty again and if possible stop eating meat because it's murder. I'm not going back to the bronze age, no thx. Not for people who wanna hug the planet, nor for people who just really don't want to contribute to society.

https://www.citylab.com/equity/2017/...tholes/519588/ - Anarchists in Portland fixing pothole because government can't/won't. Dunno bout your town in NYC sidewalks are to be taken care of by property owners adjacent to said sidewalk.

I contribute to society via VOLUNTARY transactions, why should my labor be taken from me by force?

Might wanna check your timeline, the Sumerian civilization existed long before 3000BC, had writing, taxes and even codified laws and lawyers. So you know maybe first learn about the thing you want to talk about and then talk? (just a thought..)

Sumerian, yes. But their writing has only been proven to have existed around 3000BC. Sumerian written Laws (and lawyers) can be traced back to 2100BC - earlier, so that concept is even younger.

What you're doing is taking the peak of Sumerian civilisation and dating them back to their beginnings. Like they just appeared are were wonderfully cívilizied. But their civilisation (as far as we know) lasted 2600 years. You wouldn't say the ancient greeks had space travel, Internet and techno music, would you?

So I first learned about the thing I wanted to talk about and then talked. I will now accept your apology. (just a thought ...)

Taxes aren’t the problem, those in power with access to the tax revenue are what’s wrong.

Just wondering something here. Have you ever thought about suicide as an option? Just curious. It might be showing a distinct lack of self-awareness.

There will always be someone in power with access to the tax revenue that does something that you or I, or someone else won't like.
