Random Thoughts (Political Edition)

Stressing that the reasons for the attack are still unknown, this is the guy (and his allegiances).

He sure sounds like a religious lunatic, in his words:

From Snopes:
Green’s page featured several recent postings that reference the teachings of the Nation of Islam, a Black separatist movement that does not follow the traditional teachings of Islam, and its leader Louis Farrakhan. Nation of Islam has been classified as a “designated hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center due to what the SPLC calls “the deeply racist, antisemitic and anti-LGBT rhetoric of its leaders.”
The postings do not indicate why Green, who is Black, would target the Capitol. He posted about the “end times” in one post, and in another on March 17, warned about the “last days of our world as we know it.”
Green’s final post on Facebook, from March 21, was a YouTube video called “the crucifixion of Michael Jackson,” a 150-minute sermon in which Farrakhan defends Michael Jackson.

The screeenshot of one of his facebook posts:

And he does not seem someone with no money, given the car he used.

Let's see what turns out to be the real motivation behind his actions.

Damnit, Antifa!

Here is an interesting read on the Republican Party and why it is not likely to change any time soon.

Matt Gaetz associate likely to strike plea deal, attorneys say

Matt Gaetz trip to Bahamas is part of federal probe into sex trafficking, sources say

So Gaetz had a public Venmo account:

Gaetz Paid Accused Sex Trafficker, Who Then Venmo’d Teen

When Joel Greenberg made his Venmo payments to three young women, he described the money as being for “Tuition,” “School,” and “School.”

Did the ghost candidate use Venmo too?

Indicted Matt Gaetz Associate Is Expected to Plead Guilty, Lawyers Say

The indication of a potential cooperation deal came as investigators were also examining a trip by Mr. Gaetz to the Bahamas and whether he discussed running a so-called ghost candidate in a local race.

Two police related things.

2 Windsor police officers threatened and assaulted a man during an illegal stop, lawsuit claims. And it’s all on video.

This shit keeps happening

On an unrelated, though not less stupid matter.
City council approves $6 million plan to quell gun violence in Portland

Unfortunately...

Not a penny of the $6 million will go to the Portland Police Bureau. $4.1 million will be earmarked for community groups that work in the neighborhoods hardest-hit by gunfire.

"That's the big corner we turned today, from one where the community is at the recipient end of policing and safety issues to one where the community is now in the driver's seat," said Tony Defalco of the Latino Network.

Another $1.4 million will go toward the hiring of two dozen unarmed park rangers for around-the-clock foot patrols.

"They serve more as ambassadors but I think they could serve as a deterrent and there's room for their participation," Chief Lovell said.

Maybe they can persuade the legal-methhead to put his gun down. I wouldn't feel good about my odds.

"he told the officers he was scared to get out. Gutierrez [one of the officers] then responded, 'Yeah, you should be,' the complaint said."

"And while Crocker had radioed he was pulling the vehicle over for not having a license plate, his body cam showed there was a cardboard license plate typically used on new cars posted in the rear window, the complaint says.

"The officers shouted conflicting orders at Nazario, telling him to put his hands out the window while also telling him to open the door and get out, the lawsuit says. At one point, Gutierrez told Nazario he was 'fixin’ to ride the lightning,' a reference to the electric chair, according to the claim."

"Crocker’s report also states that he chose not to file any charges because Nazario was active duty military, up for promotion, and the officer didn’t want to see his career ruined for “poor judgment.”
Are you fucking kidding me? The chief and both of those officers need to be removed.

Who the heck trained those disgusting incompetents?
I know, and at a time where police all throughout the country should be working on rebuilding their image. Absolutely disgraceful.

Treat everyone as if they are a threat. Remember early on with the TSA how they'd force old and frail people to stand up from their wheel chair to inspect for bombs and shit?

Protesters Clash With Police After Minnesota Officer Shoots Black Man

“He said they pulled him over because he had air fresheners hanging from his rearview mirror,”
A man died after an officer shot him during a traffic stop in Brooklyn Center, near where Derek Chauvin is on trial in the death of George Floyd.

Shouting contradictory orders, escalating things unreasonably, using excessive force/punishing methods on non-aggressive, calm and mostly cooperative people, threatening scared suspects, keeping on barking orders while perfectly aware that the suspect is not a threat (they holstered their gun, when they calmed down and weren't scared anymore, and yet they kept abusing the soldier)...

That's not treating everyone as if they are a threat, that is dangerous and callous verbal, moral, physical abuse.
