Same subject matter, two approaches.
Not really, but it doesn't matter. It was for the guy saying US only copies UK ideas, that was just another original episode by the US team.Same subject matter, two approaches.
Is it even possible for a franchise to rip off itself?
When I said shortly, what I actually meant was 6 months later...Haven't seen any of Season 3 so far, will get around to it shortly.
Not at all. It was always a car show first shown in an entertaining way. The comedy grew as the audience grew. Go watch the original couple seasons. Now I would agree with you that it is more a comedy entertainment show that features cars. They are reaching for a broad audience. The thing that contributed the the success of the original Top Gear is that it was a comedy show that featured cars, not the other way around.
My belief is that they really are trying hard to do their best. Things they have going for them is that its taped and edited just as well as TGUK, and they have a decent fan base so far. The problem seems to be the delivery of the material. When they speak it doesn't "feel" right. It seems so rehearsed and impersonal. Just some guy spewing car facts, like most other auto shows. The thing that contributed the the success of the original Top Gear is that it was a comedy show that featured cars, not the other way around. That's what made it great. Tanner, Rut, and Adam do ok and I hope they can step it up, and get confident infront of the camera, because it just seems like they are reading from the brochure and not from their heart.
Could Top gear america's format of no studio work for the UK version? I wouldn't mind the change if it meant we got as many episodes as the american version is putting out.
