Random Thoughts [Top Gear USA Edition]

The studio section of TG USA was likely taken out due to time constraints, they have something like 20 minutes less screen time than the UK version so it makes sense to focus that time on what is bringing viewers to the show.

TG US doesn't own the studio or airfield either which plays a big part in how they film. MCAS El Toro is going to be demoslished in the next 2-3 years too so if the show lasts that long they're going to need a new filming location.

Top Gear UK doesn't own Dunsfold either, in 2006 they actually tried to move to another airfield but they failed to do so, the top gear us airfield wasn't that great anyways it probably would have been good for them to find a new studio.

More than likely, if this is true, most of the old hangers will be torn down, including the Top Gear hanger. But the field itself is rented to other production companies and events that require test tracks. As much as I like the idea of Top Gear having their HQ at El Toro, it doesnt seem like its possible to have the base exclusively. But, who knows?

TGUK might not own the airfield but they do own the hangers and a few of the buildings there, which is more than what can be said about TGUS. And AFAIK there's no plans in the works to tear that airfield down either. MCAS El Toro on the other hand is in the middle of some extremely valuable property and there's dozens of groups trying to get it torn down and turned into something else.

Since when did Rutledge start doing commercials?

:p

anyone else annoyed that History's daily programming consist of 90% of Pawn Star reruns...?

Yep, it's a good show but it doesn't belong on the History channel, and not in the ridiculous amount they're running it either. It's pretty amazing how fast the History channel went down the shitter.

guys, this is probably off topic, but no 1080p for this season?

I don't think any of the seasons were ever released here in 1080?

Last Tuesday was devoted to the Legend of the Shelby Swamp. This Tuesday (8th), American Pickers (yeah, I don't know why, either). They'll replay the first three episodes on the 15th from 9 pm to midnight ET. :)
