I've seen Jupiter next to the Moon all summer, big whoop! But now it's weird in that I never see the moon anymore.

... maybe he likes to play with the little dotted strips from the edges? They're great for paper folding.
 
so that means i AM the only one that actually likes the sound of a dot matrix printer and that would like to print line after line of useless stuff at a fraction of a inkjet with the benefit of almost never bothering to see if the thing has enough paper

Put the printer in a room one floor up or down from your computer so that you don't have to be in the same room as the noise. This will also have the benefit that by the time you can walk to the printer, one or two pages will already be complete.
