On the phone to my parents *Note. The day before exam results come out, the Uni sends a letter to students who have failed exams and have to repeat*

*funny parent/child dialog*

Thing is, my Dad works at the University, so he knew exactly what the fuck kind of post I was looking for

I know this all too well, XD, I managed to intercept my "Academic Probation" letter! So glad that'll never be found out. :D They know I did poorly last semester (who wouldn't being worked to the bone every evening...only to have to do schoolwork the next day 4 days a week) but not THAT poorly.

It's a place I want to get out of and never fall into again.

Still though. I may not have to repeat, but that still doesn't eliminate the likelihood of really shitty results :( So glad I won't have to go through this shit for another year.

Your uni has the time to send out actual letters between writing the exams, doing the corrections and grades, and publishing? :hmm: Typically our grades were published 0-3 days after writing the exam :hmm:

Being a dad means being given the tools and skills to annoy and frighten your children.

The exams were sat between the 7th and the 18th of December, and then, I think, results had to be submitted by lecturers around the 21st (I think)

How cruel to let the students suffer for three weeks longer than necessary.

My quickest exam grade was finish writing at 12am, get result at 7pm.

Say whaaaaaat. When we get our results three weeks after the exam, we're happy that they managed to do it so fast.

Most don't manage that zero day performance. However, 2 days was very common. One day to do all the marking, one day for the professor to validate them.
With new regulations and mandatory meetings to pick up the actual exam to reduce storage space taken up by old exams that typically gets stretched to a week because the date needs to be set before writing the exam - safety margins. To make students attend that meeting no grades are published before that, else many would not pick up their exam - and create the need for storage space that does not exist.

That's not just for tiny classes as well, my first ever uni maths exam was sat by about 150 students and still had the list of grades published the next day. That's without those regulations, obviously.

I hate waiting for phone calls. I don't want to start doing anything, because they should be phoning right away, but they don't, so I waste an hour doing nothing.

Our internet connection has gone tits-up again. I hasn't worked for two days or so, and now that it is, it's stuck at 56k speed! :wall: My computer itself is misbehaving too, so I probably won't be on here much at all until these problems are resolved.

We need to change to a more reliable ISP and I need a new computer. I have an original Mac Mini, which is just not cutting it anymore and has loads of issues despite my father, a former IT teacher and the only Apple specialist here having tried to fix the crashing problem numerous times. Problem: I have no money for a new computer atm, and I'm about to start a new uni course which I desperately want one for. Once I've bought these expensive text books I've just found out I need to get, I'll have to dip into savings that I have for long-term purposes. I'll just see how things go, but if it keeps cracking up on me during the first term, I'll be getting something better no matter what. The other problem: trying to find a new ISP with the package that is just right for our household is proving much harder than expected.

:sigh:

At work, that won't work. My solution has been to browse FG, but I'm still getting annoyed. Dude's an hour late! And I want to go home!

Also won't work, need to record the call, no record-y thing on my home phone. I'm just going to try to reschedule the thing if he doesn't call in five minutes.

You know those days where you just want to crawl into bed and just sleep until you're in a better mood? I'm in that kind of mood. Only difference is that I want to barricade myself in my room before I crawl into bed to be sure of no one bothering my hibernation. It's a damn good thing I don't have to take the bus anymore because that pack of barely functioning, and I hate to say it, retards really drove up a masochistic rage inside of me. A nonstop blasting of horrible music through crappy headphones, the occasional assault to the ears of horrible singing of Bohemian Rhapsody (which would sometimes put me off listening to any Queen song), the druggies talking about weed, the druggies selling weed, douchebags yelling at the top of their lungs for whatever reason.

I'm not in the best of moods, it's been grey out for the past week, and this rain is driving me up the wall.

I have one course where I took the exam online, and received the (preliminary) result instantaneously :D

But that is far from the norm.

What do you think is the best place to live in Britain, and also, I've always wanted to know.
Though I have never been there, I would live somewhere in the Somerset area. A bit rural, a bit of a slower, conservative lifestyle is what I percieve there. In short, it is like where I grew up.

Wait wut? :?

Got stuff done at college today, a rare occurrence, also passed a test! Naturally to celebrate I've given myself backache and have a crap load of washing up to do. <_<
You have never had a pet rodent think your fingers were food (probably a carrot stick) and nom them? I usually try to be careful about that.

Also get off the computer and go rest your back :p

150? Ok, that's already quite small compared to what we have. My first math exam could've very well been around a thousand people. But still, even in the more course-specific exams that are 150 or less people results usually take a few weeks. Boo! :(
