Anybody have a bottle/tube of 3M *liquid* super glue? I need to know how long it takes to dry, and it's not printed on the tiny metal tube. Must have been on the packaging (long since thrown away)...

You asked that on the internets, it should have answers.

I've gone through about 60 search results, and I can find the MSDS sheets, but nothing beyond the ambiguous "fast-drying."

Just found a scan of the back of the package.

"Hold pieces together until glue holds."

That's it.

Gee...thanks.

Superglue.. as in cyanoacrylate? If yes, then a few seconds is enough: it dries really fast.

Yes. Ethyl cyanoacrylate as well as hydroquinone.

Is it dry enough to sand within an hour or so? No more than 1/16th thick. Using it as a filler in a chip in a guitar's glossy finish.

Should be. Although you should probably apply it in layers, letting each layer dry for a minute a so. cyanoacrylates are supposed to be applied in very thin layers (it's very brittle iirc)...

Wouldn't lacquer/varnish/paint be a better filler?

Since it had a clear coat on it, just using paint wouldn't work that well. Thankfully, the chip was just in the clearcoat. Since I don't know what kind of finish it has on it super glue is a good go-to when you aren't looking to re-spray the whole body (or in my case, the headstock.) the chip is so mall, it's literally the thinnest layer I could manage.

Companies really need to use the internets much better when giving out product info. But they even failed with giving good info on the package.

Well, I gave it a shot and started scraping/sanding. Holy shit, did it work well!! Sanded up to 12,000 grit micromesh, and it looks seamless on the headstock of this guitar. Now I just need to pick up some polishing compound to buff it to an even shine. Noyce!

So I'm currently staying at my brother's place in Vancouver, he's living with his girlfriend.

All was going good tonight until we came home after talking about her wanting to learn French. Then they sort of got into a huge argument in which I got both sides, weighing pros and cons about a boyfriend teaching a language vs. a school teaching the basics and a boyfriend/friend acting as a beacon/relay after that.

Somehow it got out of hand and I ended up watching Scrubs episodes on my own without any alcool while they settled it down in their room.

Now it settled down, they've finally listened to what each other already knew and it's all good.

Plus they found an unopened bottle of booze for me so there's that.

If you're serious about asking for help on this, I recommend making your own thread for this. Otherwise people may not notice it.

Never been to Rock am Ring, but have visited a dozen festivals or more over the years, so I think I can help you out.
