Random Thoughts....

My shoulder hurts and I'm feeling the malaise today. :( Just...everything is exhausting.

Doesn't help when I go out for a quick coffee run and there's both the gas company AND the mailman blocking my driveway. It's finally down to only 90 F outside (that's cool for August here). There are a zillion empty curb spots just a few feet away. Why? Why???

At least bring me a box-o-Malört or the package that sadly keeps bouncing around the northeast instead of getting to its actual destination.

Just be glad you're not on Metformin or Ozempic.

Can't trust a fart ever again.

Shush, that’s the secret they don’t want you knowing about!

There are a zillion empty curb spots just a few feet away. Why? Why???
Every week the BOFROST MAN (somehow a German tradition with some people to have overpriced frozen foods delivered) blocks our driveway despite the entire street being empty. I don’t really care, I’m not going anywhere, but I just don’t get it? Like… it must be a conscious and deliberate choice at this point. Maybe I should sticker the fuck out of his windshield next time, just for shits and giggles.

I think I need new glasses, and it's not because my eyesight deteriorated. My current glasses are in a sorry state, and it's a combination of me not taking the best care of them, and the frame being some shitty plastic frame that I bought only because it said 'Made in Italy'. Yeah, right, only if there's a company complex named 'Italy' located somewhere in China.
Taking care of your glasses is the most important thing for longevity. I have four pairs of glasses in use:
  • 70s (I think) L'Amy sunglasses I bought at Boxi Flea Market for 20€ probably 15 years ago. Updated the lenses twice in the meantime to keep track with my body aging.
  • Ray-Ban Clubmasters as "daily drivers", now also going past 10 years of ownership, also on the second or third set of lenses.
  • Ray-Ban Aviator Sunglasses
  • 60s (I assume) Metzler glasses I bought for 4,50€ at @public's go-to second hand shop. The metal is really showing it's age, they are very sensitive to being bent and I've had some people refuse to fix them out of fear they'll break.
But all of them are serving me well, since I really take good care of them. Can't tell any difference in quality/robustness between expensive and cheap, old and new.

In any case I don't think that price and brand are what defines if a frame lasts long or not - a very delicate, minimalistic, thin metal frame will always break and bend easier than some thick plastic.
Also, most plastic frames after a few years will develop a white coating/discoloration. It's normal aging of the material and again not a quality issue.

If, on the other hand, you think you'll treat your glasses roughly also in the future, my advice is to buy cheap and replace often.

The actual "weight loss" part is the appetite suppression. 4 days a week, I couldn't care less about food. I'll usually skip dinner.
The bathroom issues are listed as a possible side effect. Both drugs together is not amusing.
And there is no warning. One minute you're fine, the next, not so much.

Should have been on Metformin years ago, when they knew I had insulin resistance, that would lead to Diabetes and was a massive driver of my PCOS.
But they wait until you get over the line into actual diabetes....

Also, Ozempic here is ridiculously expensive unless you are diabetic, then the government pays for most of it. Even then you still can't reliably get continuous supply, because dodgy doctors are prescribing it off-label for weight loss, to people who don't actually need it.

If I am losing weight from it, (I'm not seeing the rapid losses that people claim to have had), then it's also heavily contributed to by walking 8km a day with the dog, for the last 9 months.

Normalize rhyming "females" with "tamales".

Either direction is fine. You do you.

Yesterday I ate a piece of cake. Today, my cake is gone. 😢

i am eating a chocolate croissant for the first time in months. It is good.

Clearly you can't have your cake and eat it, too.

What is the point of having cake? I just need to get more cake. 🎂

Attempting to homebrew for the Lemons race in November. Holy crap, it made my buddy's whole house smell incredible. All the sweet and herbal stuff that goes into it boiling away on the stove is just nice. Really an unexpected bonus of "Wait, $50ish gets several gallons of beer??? This is the deal of a lifetime."

I was without cake, now I have cake. I am not allowed to eat any though. This is worse than not having cake.

Did I mention that my home smells like cake? Oh, the torture.

completely unreasonable.

The cake is for a birthday, so it is (mostly) reasonable. I will get a piece later, and maybe some ice cream too.

Drinking a Fanta for the first time in forever while I wait for the Porschelump to get checked out. Now I have the "Manta, Manta' theme song stuck in my head, only it's "Fanta, Fanta," like some kind of mental shitpost. SMH.

I missed that today is Friday the 13th. Nothing strange to report yet.

Hmm, what's that in the corner?

Well shit!

things I'm not clicking on a work laptop: that lol

The fact that at 7am it’s still completely dark out caught me completely by surprise. I’m up at 6 every day, so I really don’t get how that happened.
