Random Thoughts....

All this talk of how many hours spent at gaming, reminds me of all the time I've wasted playing the KoTOR games. And all the various Maddens. And now Mass Effect. Randomly squeezing in various racing/sports games along the way.

I remember I played 10 hours of Final Fantasy 8 without stopping. And then I got stuck at one point and then stopped altogether

I remember a 4 hour fight in FF XII
and at the end the bunny I killed cried... that was heart breaking.

That's nothing. Me and my buddy spent basically whole weekends to play Final Fantasy 7, 8 and 9.

The other thing is familiar too. I have stopped playing many games after I got stuck.

I played Oblivion fairly obsessivly for a while- the two months after I'd finished the Miata and before I got the Yami- on an old Xbox 360 I basically got for free. It was a good game but now I can't go near it, played it far too much at once.

It might be a badger!

Morrowind...wow. For giggles, I walked over every square inch of that land, took IIRC about 3 weeks. I also had every cheat possible so I was essentially invincible.

For classic games I find Sim City 3000 the best out of all of them. And one cannot forget MYST, and the FUCKING AMAZING MYST Riven.

I tried Myst, but never gave it enough time, i guess. Just remebered it to be rather tricky.

A lot of it was logic that smack dab in front of your face. Mark my words, I spent a six months doing it the first time, and all of five minutes the second time. Anyone who has played MYST all the way through knows what I mean. :D
Riven was just a really good story, and such a big world with really cool graphics. But very hard. Oof so very hard. But when I got the gigantic fire marble to work....

I'm stuck right now in what must be one of the worst courses I had.
e-marketing. My group seems to be slackish/uncoordinated/not giving a damn, and my professor takes this stuff way too seriously. Most of it is a blob of crap, but there's stuff due every week (in-class labwork), stuff due every week online, a very lengthy project to do at the end and 2 midterm. Basically, the guy is expecting us to breathe the almost non-existant subject matter.

Anybody ever get one of these courses that you felt you wanted to drop just to see if next semester's sessions would be much less work? The course is mainly run however the prof chooses to run it, so yeah ....

Yes. I have done this (granted, it's taking me forever to finish uni, but oh well), and sometimes it's worth it to just take a better prof or go into a class with people you know to be dependable. Form your group before the class and give the prof a heads-up that you'd like to work together.

Oh, crappy day.

I think I've calmed down.

...think. Maybe. I dunno.

It's just been a lousy day. Everyone seems to be disappointed in me over something or other. You name it - I've likely messed it up. Not a fun feeling.

Oh er - Space Invaders and Space Birds - Cobol74 slinks off into the Jurassic Period.

(paraphrasing)

Groundskeeper Willy: "I cahnt of shot Mister Burns on account of my arthritic thumbs from playing Space Invaders for all of 1978".

Wiggum: "Oh, yeah. I loved that game".

Willy: "It was a game?"

It seems I've won a pair of new headphones on a head-fi competition.

Its just so unexpected, I'm completely stunned atm.

Let's take a peek now at ye old Cobol74 family album, shall we?

*blows the dust off*

Here we can see Cobol74 Hoop Rolling with an early childhood acquaintance.

Stacking worthless money during the depression.

His first bike. He was a strapping young lad, full of piss and vinegar. He once used it to race a steam locomotive from Thwopshire to Someothershire for a grand prize of three shillings and sixpence. He lost by 32 days and 12 hours. (Clocks didn't have minute hands or second hands back in them days so that's the official time)

His first horseless auto-carriage. You know you've finally made it when you buy your first Mercedes-Benz.

aaaaaand this concludes the joke. I hope you were not offended.
