Random Thoughts....

we have these bins:

We've had two stolen. When full. Like WTF??? And if yours is lost or destroyed, you just have to ring the government and they bring you a nice new one. But seriously.... hope someone liked the garbage they acquired

It was Nigerians. The phishing e-mails didn't work so they stole your bank details from your trash instead.

I like how taking the context out of things, makes them much less boring.
An example from a course on AS400/iSeries I'm currently browsing through: "The H Spec in RPG ILE has many more options available than it does in RPG OPM."

Real meaning: "When programming in the RPG language in a Original Program Model, the control parameter is limited to only one line containing at most the date and currency settings. When in stead using the Integrated Language Environment, these can be multiple lines and may contain additional information."

My inner nerd translates this however as: "the ILE role playing game has a lot more erotic (hentai) possibilities than the OPM game => ILE ftw"

Then they were sadly disappointed.

Yes, I have every bank statement I ever received filed away. [/OCD]

We have people dump rubbish in our bins sometimes because we're diligent enough to put them out the night before collection rather than rushing out at the last minute as the rubbish truck trundling down the street. Ours neighbours over the road recently had one of their adult sons move back in with the parents after busting up with his wife, and all his stuff came with him. What do you know, my mother goes out to put a small kitchen bin bag out in the wheelie bin and finds a huge black rubbish bag (obviously not ours, we use white ones) full of stuff that really should go in the recycling bins that's collected every fortnight. It's so obvious it's come from over there.

I'm not greenie, but people chucking their rubbish in someone else's bin / on the ground / not recycling basic things really annoys me. The council rubbish truck also has a habit of tipping bins over onto the roads. Thankfully, our street, house over the road (again!) excepted, is pretty quiet traffic-wise, or it'd be a much greater hazard.

According to the local media, Hondurans are now jumping across the U.S and going into Canada. First, sorry about that. Secondly, bastards copied MY idea. I could still give it a shot, I can't imagine latino immigration can grow that quickly right?

right?

right?

Add the phrase "how hard can it be?" and you'll be guaranteed success.

You get paper statements?

You get paper statements?

My bank still sends paper statements but then again it's a old fashioned credit union with a website that could easily pass as something from the 80's. We just got a smartphone app about a year ago. A few months ago we got the ability to use said phone to deposit checks, which is cool.

Now if only they'd offer optional RFID debit/credit cards. Tap to pay is too cool. :)

Sadly, I cannot use IM clients at work to talk with my girlfriend. :(

Little do they know about gmail chat. ^_^

My bank is rolling out NFC on their debit cards. Sorry, but about the last thing I want is a credit or debit card that can be electronically read in any way without me putting it knowingly into a reader.

I'll let your IT admin know right away! *leaves cubicle and walks down hallway*

I disagree but then I like BBC radios 2, 4 and 5 - product of a sick mind. Anyway back to the post, XFM does not have an internet channel?

They do, but I only listen to radio when I'm in a car. It's to keep my mind occupied on journeys. :|

That's probably why I don't like Radio 2: I'm not listening in at the right times because I don't know anything about the radio schedules, as I don't tune in at regular intervals. Whenever I tune in to Radio 2, I tend to get something banal like a specialist programme about showtunes. :p

I just had an epiphany about the difference between nerds and geeks.

Nerds know shit, geeks fix shit. Simples.

^ Mother of god he's right!

Radio 2 can be good at quite a lot of times. Sometimes its rubbish, but Radio 1 is the other way round. And I enjoy Moyles anyway - don't see why the hatred exists for him. Sure the music in the charts isn't great, but that happens, and has always happened.

The best in car radio moment for me was when I was quite tired driving the relaxing Volvo back from Devon; in the dark, both parents asleep, not far to get home and had been driving for a couple of hours. All of a sudden Radio 2 (because Radio 1 gets holycrapbad after about 8pm) comes on with 'The Best Tracks of 1992' and Rhythm Is A Dancer comes on. That was exactly what I needed

I really need to put some sound deadening in my car's doors. The stereo that's in it (Alpine HU and stock speakers) is powerful enought that you can feel vibrations when you put your hand on the door when you're outside the car (some members may consider this to be a good thing...).
