Rant: RX-8!!!

Ok, i like the RX-8 car.. It not a bad idea, but of late the ones i have been running in too have been some real dumb asses!
Just last night as i was taking my mom to pick up some food in the Jaguar i had some guy in an RX-8 want to race m. Everytime i would just let him past he would slow down, wait for me and then gun it. Also this is on a street road, not a freeway or something. I get pissed and just gun it so he could leave me alone and go on my way. But this is not the first time it happen to me.
A few weeks back going up to Davis on 80, i had a run in with a bunch of kids in a RX-8. I drive pretty fast and from SF to Davis its a long, borning drive so i am ususalling going 80+. Well i past these kids in the left lane and i guess they feel "disrespected" it next thing i know they cut me off at almost 90mph! Well it was an empty road so i just said f**k it and i hit it and pass them with no problem since we are at highway speeds which is where a big motor really has its power. I am feeling happen till we hit some traffic, so i slow down and move to the right lane as i have to take an exit comming up.. Well next thing i know, look who is trying to cut me off from the shoulder... Those damn kids in the RX 8.. and at a very high rate of speeds.. Well they cut me off and then think they should have a led so they jump back in the shoulder and keep going.
So WTF is with these RX-8 owners! Ugg.. Just a rant. And the sad part, there cars could have owned me if it was from a dead stop (and even then.. Jaguar posts a 0-60 time of 6.2 while a RX 8 is listed at a best time from RT of 0-60 in 6.0.. thats if you can shift just perfect)
 
Yah, best thing to do is to ignore them, or try to slow down to something slow like 50mph, but that doesn't always work.
But I can understand how this can piss you off.
I had something similar a while ago with a pickup truck.
I was just cruisin' along, and for no apparent reason, this pickup truck starts to follow me around, block me when I try to pass someone, speed up when I sped up, slow down when I slowed down, etc...
I tried driving at like 50mph for a while, but to no avail.
Finally, I had enough of it, and nailed it, drove 145 for about a minute (the roads were practically empty), and didn't see him again.
I really don't think I had any other choice than to do that.
If I would have stopped, I have this feeling they would have been waiting for me.
 
I've had a truck follow me before too on my bike. I took a turnoff really quick to see if they were following, and they slid sideways onto the turnoff and nearly hit me! At that point I was like GONE! ;)

I think maybe they wanted my ride. :p
 
First that has nothing to do with the car itself
Second it's quoted at 5.9 not 6.0
Third, the problem is the rich kids in USA, here people who drive it are older and more responsible which is a good thing IMO
Fourth, they are dumb because it's not a car suited for streetracing
 
you even have this problem with a jaguar... only sports cars get this problem here. as ESPNSTI said... the only solution is to floor it so they can't catch you :D

Yeah!! That is what suppries me.. Jag is kind of a sleeper.. I mean yeah it can be flash bc of the name but it has some power with that 4.2l V8 which ppl forget about.
I also have people try to race me (mostly ricers) in my Passat which is really a family car!!!
Now when i am in my Dads old Mustang, its kind of expected to get people like that.. and bc its a V6 i just put along and try to let them get the bragging right.
As for Renesis, yeah i know.. i like that car. Drove one at Mazda Rev It Up. I just could not come up with the title. Also when i googled for the 0-60 i found a site that listed it as 6 flat as the best. But even 5.9, with a manual car its depends on how good of a shifter you are. And many, including myself are not the best.
 
Yeah I know, and to get that 5.9 (Road and Track time) they did a drop clutch lunch at 7500RPM, not exactly what you'd want to do everyday with your own car.. :lol:
 
I understand those kids, but there is nothing better than to nuke them back. ESPNSTI, I can see why you get some of that! :p You did the right thing to that pick up.

I love it when peole play with me, so that I can show them whats real. (If I have the power that is.)
I remember overtaking a 125cc offroader on my Scooter going downhill when I was 14. A spectacular moment back then! 8)
 
Er many people at the rx8 forums can't get 5.9 even if the drop the clutch. Doing that will probably screw up your clutch and leave you with miles of wheelspin. Well, there were a few.
 
i hate bikers and biker packs. they go all over the place and ur afriad to floor it coz they cant really see u. there was this pack taking up two lanes on a highway before, i got so fucking pissed i floored it and when past them down the middle and they all got shit scared after my gtr back fired.
 
bikes in malaysia piss me off as well.. they seem to go all over the place as they think the road is theirs...
 
Hahaha yeah I hate those malaysian motorbikes. So damn noisy, and they don't know how to ride properly. RX-Z, Kris, and the boon siews.
 
HuH? Well i dont know what type of riders you guys have in Malaysia... I guess manily Crotch Rocket guys..
Very intresting you say "They cant see you".. WTF? do these guy ride with blinders or something? Its ususally Motorcycle guy worried that drivers dont see us. I know, more then once i have had people try to come in my lane while i am riding. Dont know how they cant hear me.. Well i guess thats why we have this: :bangin:
 
ah good old SMIDSY - my Mum won't ride a bike again, for sure.

As an RX-8 owner, I'd like to apologize for them. We're not all assholes.

The same thing often happens to me (though usually it is against Mustangs or ricers...)
 
As someone who has been in the exact same situation with different cars i dont recommend stopping.

I had someone who didnt like me overtaking them and decided they wanted to race on single lane, two way twisty roads, i had my gf in the car, not to mention its only a ford laser (not known for its twisty handling) so i took the opportunity to fly off the road into the dirt at about 60-70km/h, the car sliding as it makes the transition off the tarmac. Anyway the other car followed me and pulled up behind, the driver then got out and tried to attack me throught the open window, he hit me several times one of which i riccochet into my gf's head giving her a shiner. Needless to say when i managed to get my seat belt off and get out of the car, the other driver ran back and jumped into his car and drove off. Fucking chicken..

So, yeah, dont stop, you dont know who's driving the other car.
