The Flight of the Phoenix 1964 with Jimmy Stewart great acting!
Reboot
Flight of the Phoenix great visual effects.
In this case I think Hollywood crafted a great updated version of the story but let?s face it how do you replace Jimmy Stewart, ain?t going to happen.
Jimmy Stewart (Brig. Gen. USAF, Ret.) is one of my favorite actors of all time. I especially loved
No Highway in the Sky, but that's because I'm an aerospace engineer, and I had two teachers in college (once in materials when discussing fatigue, another when having an aside discussion with the class about 'engineering ethics') actually show parts of that movie in class. He is the quintisential "Average Guy in an Extrodinary Situation". I haven't seen everything Jimmy Stewart (I'm working on it), but I would definitely recommend everyone to watch "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington", "Man from Laramine", "No Highway in the Sky", "The Spirit of Saint Louis", "Rear Window" and "Strategic Air Command". I know the last one is probably more or less a Cold War propaganda film, but it has some awesome airplane pornography including one of the most forgotten aircraft in the SAC arsenal, the B-47 Stratojet. (edit) "SAC" also touches on some of the stress and strain that constant deployments puts on the married family, which I think is hard to appreciate unless you grew up in that environment (I did, and it struck a cord with me).
I can't see Jimmy Stewart ever being replaced (or even an actor like Sidney Poitier), but I think the aforementioned Micheal Cera could be groomed to fit that "everyman" persona that Jimmy Stewart had.
@ Cowboy, I'm just covering my ass from any misconceptions.
