The Sun?s then-managing editor, Graham Dudman, told the Associated Press that his newspaper paid ?a small sum? for the photos. Dudman would not elaborate ?except to say it was more than 500 British pounds, which is about $900.?
Sources close to the story have told The Daily Beast that the payment was significantly greater, and was made to a U.S. official on American soil.

BBC News said:The Leveson Inquiry into the culture, practice and ethics of the press has published its report. Here are the key points.
Briefly:
New self-regulation body recommended
Independent of serving editors, government and business
No widespread corruption of police by the press found
Politicians and press have been too close
Press behaviour, at times, has been 'outrageous'
Hey Jack,
"Levinson Report" tomorrow from 14:00! (BBC News24 live continous coverage.)
Is that a prelim thing or what? I thought the thing would go on for months/years or have I lost track?
http://www.levesoninquiry.org.uk/about/The Leveson Inquiry into the culture, practices and ethics of the press is running in four modules. These are:
Module 1: The relationship between the press and the public and looks at phone-hacking and other potentially illegal behaviour.
Module 2: The relationships between the press and police and the extent to which that has operated in the public interest.
Module 3: The relationship between press and politicians.
Module 4: Recommendations for a more effective policy and regulation that supports the integrity and freedom of the press while encouraging the highest ethical standards.

The press doesn't need legislative regulation, the press needs an organ organized by themselves with the contractual powers to order them to run blacked out front pages, no promotion etc. when a paper fucks up.
Combine the Norwegian and Swedish system, they work very well without any need for legal regulation.
