Its a Traxxas Stampede. It has a brushless motor, and as a result, runs rather fast (I got it up to 30ish in the dirt).

I used to have a RC10 until the back wheel bearing became shot and it stopped working.

So, post your rc vehicles. I'm sure I'm not the only one somewhat into this hobby.

I'd love to get in to R/C toys again, but my parents barely liked the idea of me getting a silly AirHogs Reflex R/C Helicopter, which my dad promptly RUINED the same fking day I got it.

I have... quite a few. Give me a few days to collect what I have and take pictures of it... lol. I am now in possession of 15+ cars, most of which are smaller, but I did have an 8th scale nitro at one point in time.

I also have a couple of helicopters which ill post up later

I used to have a ton of radio controlled car. A couple I built but most were older Tyco cars. I ended up selling them all. I'd really like to build another one and I got a 1/10 scale body of one of my cars and I think I might use to to build a nitro car.

I sort of almost half kinda want an r/c plane...

After cleaning up that mess I decided to frankenstein the E-Maxx powerplant into the XX4:

And this is the E-Maxx upon getting the custom made chassis I designed. It doesn't have any chassis braces in this shot, but I later realised that an aluminum chassis I had laying around was the perfect length. The truck is 3" longer than stock.

Some renderings of the chassis as it went through various design changes:

There are some major design flaws, such as not having mounting holes for the steering controls, but I found a way. Maybe I'll take some newer pics later if anyone wants.

I used to have a Nitro RC truck back in the day and it was a blast......but I had to constantly tinker with it to keep it going and got tired of buying fuel.......

Can anyone recommend a good electric model that is still fast and good for off road? I'd love to get back into it, but I'd want something that was less of a hassle to maintain. Thanks in advance :)

I'd go with the new Traxxas Rustler or Stampede. Fun, durable, waterproof(I think, I know the new E-Maxx is) and not too expensive. The bandit is good too, but the others are better suited for just blasting around all over the place. They also have a gigantic aftermarket selection.

Apparently the Stampede VXL (one I got) is the best value because it comes straight out of the box with a brushless motor. I paid $300, but if you look online, you will be sure to find it for less. I was looking at the Rustler, but then I saw someone bring one in (that they had gotten recently) with a broken motor. I figured that I might as well pay $100 more to get a car that has the capability to reach 65 mph. I saw the E-Maxx as well, but it didn't appeal as much. And the stampede doesnt require a very large battery to reach 35 mph (I get 45 minutes of run time and a top speed of around 33-35 mph with a $40 battery).

It depends what you are looking for. My car is sheit on the road (it tends to flip if you turn to quickly), but it is an absolute blast on dirt. Haven't run it on grass as yet. I was also looking at the Traxxas Slash when I got mine.

Apparently brushless motor cars require less maintenance as well.

I have a Savage too, but mine's in bits in a box (has been for 2 years now) after I took it out after fitting the reverse module and blew the idler gear... This is my current project (which has also been going for a year):

I own a few Tamiya cars, although they are a lot more like models that move rather than speed machies

Used to race 1/10 electric RC's back in the 1980's... (man that feels like forever ago now!)

Started off with a Tamiya Frog that I built and painted to look like it did on the box...

Eventually took it racing and kept killing the gearbox in it...

Went from that to a Tamiya Falcon that I ran for quite a few years and had great success in the club with - was running in 2WD modified with a Twister 702 motor and some custom made alloy wheels that bought the width of the car right out to the maximum allowed. Won 3 straight club championships with that car...

Also bought a Tamiya Boomerang that I ran in 4WD both modified and standard (RS540 motor) Ran that both indoors and outdoors and finished 32nd in the State Championships in 1988...

Not long after that I started getting real cars and kind of just left the RC's to collect dust in the shed. Have still got all of them in various states. Keep getting an itch to go out and buy a new one as getting parts for the old things just isn't viable really...

Maybe when/if I have kids I'll buy them one just so I can then have an excuse to buy myself one too :D

Thanks guys. I took a closer look at the Stampede and it looks really nice. Not sure if I could afford the VXL, but the cheaper model seems pretty decent as well.

The Axial Ax10 RTR is pretty good. Its designed as a rock crawler/rock racer so it can be used for both serious crawling or just a bash around truck and is reasonably quick in standard form.

And the FJ in the back of shot in my pics is another rc truck. Ill put some pics up of that too when I get some of my choppers.

I have an RC helicopter, mini Chinook, and it is effing impossible to fly! My light-shade is sliced to buggery...

:lmao:

That's going in my signature. :D

I don't really like the new breed of rock crawlers, I prefer more scale cars, hence the Tamiya XC i'm turning into a Defender. The new (ish) 3-speed Ford is good too.
