The hardcore Apple/Macintosh hater I am just bought an Apple product.. but it's not a mac...

I just preordered an iPod mini! :D a silver one! can't wait to get it (not out yet, should ship in 6 weeks) can't wait! 8)

i got a Rio Karma, 20gb space.

all my mp3's and then some 8) .

oh and ren good luck with having it work with windows, your in for loads of fun.

I hate Apples too, but I have to admit some of their new stuff is pretty fucking cool!

It's the gadgetry, not the engineering behind the products that attracts me. The iPOD with the touch selector thingy. The clear speakers. The touch power buttons on their computers.

But then they have bateries that last a year....400 dollar base prices for iPODs and 100 dollar replacement batteries.

Waste of money. Not that much smaller than an iPod which has more space.

How long does an AA battery last on that thing?

they all use lithium-ion batteries, and since it has a backlit 1.7" screen it as a poor economy (about 8hrs)

Never said it was a wise choice but:

A) original iPods are ugly
B) I don't need 15Gb
C) $75 extra is $75 too much
D) the mini is already big enough for what I want

so it was no question for me and if you compare it to it's competitors only one beats it (kinda) the Creative MuVo 2 but it lacks quality, design and coolness. Actually it's the first time I'm buying something over something else for it's cool factor! but... I like it!

what prompted you to get an mp3 player.

my cd player broke and i was tired of dealing with the skipping, moving parts capable of easily breaking, dirt or dust on the lens messing up and the fact that i have to change cd's.

i decided to step in the future and get an mp3 player.

Well I didn't even have a CD player, I skipped that technology (cassette to mp3! although I wasn't using my walkman since years) well next year I'm going to college and will have to take the bus quite often but unlike in HS I won't know ppl in the bus so.. to make it less boring I'll listen to music

When Apple released a Windows version of iTunes for the first generation of iPods the compatability was absolutely brutal. Now with the newer builds of iPods and iPod Minis and iTunes, there is virtually no problems whatsoever.

I'd take an early buggy version of iTunes over some of the crap software Creative has been releasing for their MP3 players though - the software they write is absolutely horrible. :x

I think iPODs are insanely cool, but price-wise they aren't that great.

Do you really need 40GB to store music? Does anyone even have that much music on their hard drives?

For the money, I'd rather get a tiiiny mp3 player with about 256MB of memory and I'll just swap songs in and out.

Anyone have a recommendation for a good tiny mp3 player?

I have over 100gigs of music on my computer... then again, I'm a music addict. We make up a small percent of the population.

I could definetly use a portable 40gig MP3 player. :D

I'm Canadian, so no.

Edit: Actually, about 90% of those 100gigs are MP3s made of CDs that I already own. I own a lot of CDs.

I have like 3Gb of music and some of it is Bass checks for my subwoofer and random stuff like that os it won't make it's way into the iPod. So 4gb is enough for me

That's gotta be a small fortune spent in CDs.

100gigs really is impressive. I've gotten something like 3.2 gigs of music or about 800 songs. That's MORE than I can listen to already. But 100gigs is just...wow...

You deserve the official what's that song guy title.

i got a uber good deal for my 20gb ipod ($3000HKD), i got free JBL duet speakers which cost alot and free ipod fire wire and usb connection wires :>
any ways, now my american friends...behold! sonys answer to the ipod...
