Retest the Zonda

Was rewatching some seaon one stuff the other day and it occured to me that they retested the Lambo for the Lamborghini birthday episode. Hammond explained that they "made a bit of a hash of it" because they used to wet the track. The end result was that on a dry track with the new stig the Murc went from 1:29 to 1:23. Now the Zonda was originally tested in the same episode as the Murc and did a lap time of 1:23 with the wet track and perry at the wheel. So does that mean that new Stig is way better? Does it mean that the Zonda's time has an extra 6 seconds on it?? Probably not but it can definitely do better, so here's to hoping they test that new Zonda in series 7.

Also does anyone know why they never lapped the DB9 or the Ferrari 612?

Anyways, first post so my apologies if this was already discussed (did a quick search but didn't find anything).

they laped the db9 when they tested the 575gtc vs. vanquish s. i have also wondered why thet never retested the zonda. the only thing i could figure out is that the track was a lot dryer when the zonda lapped.

Ah good call on the DB9, they do mention that it went round in 1:27.1 but they never put it on the board or on the website...go figure. As for the Zonda Jeremy makes a comment about how the track is very wet while the stig starts to slide the back out at one point.

I guess it's tough to sychronize a dry track (in England) and having the Zonda on hand at the same time. ;)

The Zonda had to go through a soaking wet hammerhead. I think it would be a couple of seconds faster, retested. :stig:

if they retest the Zonda they had to make improvment also, but they MUST test the new Koenigsegg CCR i think it will bet the MC12 round the track

I was hoping they would retest the Zonda too, I thought it would have been cool to if they took the Zonda Roadster on the track. But as long as they test the Zonda F I won't complain.

Slightly OT, but Aflac, why did you choose the name of a vaguely prominent American insurance company for your name here? Do you work for them, is it your coincidental last name, etc? Just curious, that's all. :bangin:

:welcome: , by the way.

I forgot to mention the Koenigsegg as well, there's no way that it should be sitting at 1:23 Perry Mccarthy must have been hung over.

Maybe they'll test the CCR, hopefully. And yes, I do remember those vaguely amusing ads, before they changed their logo into something you'd see on a pack of toilet paper. ;)

Yeah, the CC8s had like the most unclean lap of all times...
And it was in kind of a beta stage at that time...

In Clarksons shootout vid he says, that it is now (end of summer of 2003) much better and his new king of supercars...

Yeh I remember that lap and why did they test that pre-production model :?

The CCR would be insanly quick its just I hope Stiggy can keep it in a straight line. It would probly handle like a Carrera GT...CRAZY

i noticed this as well but chose to ignore it due to illogicalness. The Lambo is AWD and handles better in general, but the Zonda was still 6 seconds faster on the original "wet" track. when the Lambo was retested, it got around the same as the Zonda, so the Zonda should be a little bit quicker at least.

but just forget about it and hope that they review the Zonda F on a dry track instead

Whats the point? The new Zonda isn't much faster or different from the old one so really not worth looking at. They've done the Zonda twice already, the hardtop and the soft top, so I doub't they'll do more.

In fact it is much faster. Just read some tests and it's a different beast.

1 second on 0-60 is kind of a big deal for a car that is already very fast.

But, then the Caterham 7 CSR260 can beat it at 0-60 in 3.1 secsand it only costs ?34,000 thats about 10% of the cost of a Zonda.
