Ownership Verified: "Riley" - 2012 Volkswagen Golf R

How the fuck is that Mustang so much larger than the NSX???

Lots of cars look huge next to an NSX. Hell, the new NSX will probably look huge compared to the old one.

To be fair, the GT-R is by no means a small car.

Check the dimensions:

Exterior (inches)

Wheelbase 109.4

Overall length 183.9

Overall width 74.6

Overall height 53.9

Mustang:

Wheelbase [in] 107.1
Length [in] 188.1
Height [in] 55.8
Width [in] 73.9

I know that parked next to a 1966 Chevelle (which you would think is a huge, massive muscle car) the GT-R is actually taller, just as wide and almost as long.

We're hitting 100 degrees here now... so I gave my baby some window tint to help keep the interior cooler!

Yes, but the GTR looks huge even compared to normal cars. I see so many parked on the streets and parking garages here. They have that same massive presence like the new Camaro.

I've driven both the GTR and the new Camaro, and thankfully I can say that while they are both similar in size, the GTR feels so much smaller when you're behind the wheel. The Camaro is a lumbering and massive beast. I don't like the feeling of it at all.

You're right about the driving experience I'm referring only to its physical presence and space it takes up when parked on the street

Awesome! :)

(skip to 3:29 to bypass staging - our group got stock in the pit lane to wait for the lightning to clear)

Thanks!

The mods to date are:

Forge Cold-Air Intake
Forge "Twintercooler" FMIC
APR High Pressure Fuel Pump
APR RSC Turboback Exhaust
APR "Stage 2+" Software

I've yet to dyno my car but I have seen several other Golf R Stage 2+ dynos that report anywhere from 280-326 AWHP. My goal with this car when I bought it was for 300 AWHP which the car should be pretty close to achieving. The only way to really get more than that is to add water-meth, a bigger turbo or break into the engine internals and I won't be doing any of that. ;)

I prefer the stock R wheels, but other than that, it's looking lovely!

Another fellow MK6 Golf owner on FG! Nice! :)

Thanks! The stock "Talladega" wheels look great, but I definitely wanted something different. To me, these RSe07s look fantastic.

Hey J, what about you and the TX-meet? Any news? :D

We're flying in (I think, going off memory here) Tuesday evening. We have a rental car reserved already and have a parking pass for the track. I haven't kept up with the thread but I'll go back and read it now to see if we could work out some logistics and meet up with some of the FG folks!

So I don't have a proof picture yet... and proof pictures are required for "new car threads." But this isn't a new car thread. I'm simply posting a picture of a new car in my old car thread.

2012 Ariel Atom 3 with K20Z3 engine. Bought directly from stock at TMI Autotech at VIR. It's still there being retrofitted with a few more options... front and rear carbon fiber wings and the street windshield package. I will have a proof pic and more pictures when I actually pick up the car in about two weeks. CAN'T WAIT!!

Yes, I still have the Golf R, of course!
