Ringmeet 2013 - Is that the turbo?

I simply went to ask the officials working directly at the gates about the actual facts regarding camera banning orders. - The answer I got made much more sense: In-car cameras allowed, outside ones not: If your dashcam takes sudden air time inside your car that's your problem, but you don't want the badly secured GoPro of the car infront suddenly going trough your windscreen, for example.- Satisfied with this official statement, later during my second lap I had my cam permanently mounted and all the time running behind the windscreen. No problem.
Did you get that in writing? :D

Those guys really should make up their mind. We saw several people getting denied driving onto the Ring at the entrance because of cameras over the years, and last year we got an unfriendly rebuke after leaving the track when one of the personnel saw our still-attached cameras on my windscreen.

Interesting, I thought the issue was all about people posting video of crashes and the like online.

I have heard they have a new "relaxed attitude" towards it - although the rules haven't changed

Until that moment I hadn't really planned to take my own banger around the ring, I actually was advising myself against it during the Roadtrip days. But standing there next to the barriers looking at the cars going for their laps, for sure I changed my mindset: Let's do this.

Yup, I had the same explosion of "Fuck it!"

The weekend at the 14th and 15th of the coming September is already reserved for me going to the N?rburgring again to gain more experience.

There were a few of us planning a "mini-meet" perhaps this is a great weekend to do it!

No, but at the beginning on my second-lap video you can see me changing lanes before the barriers, so I could drive by the guy I had asked earlier, just to be on the safe side.

So far I count 6 of my shirts at ringmeet, honorary attendance please.

Did you include the two MWF exclusives, the Coniston Bluebird and It's a Galant?

You have the chance earlier: there is a meet planned in October for those who missed the big meet (like me). :)

Sunday, 11th August 2013 (Day 12 of 12)

Altough I had initially planned to stay until Monday morning I decided to head off earlier: The Roadtrip, the vintage race day, and then the Touristenfahrten day with my laps, it has been awesome, but on Sunday morning I felt it had been enough: It was time to go home.

The commitee for placing the cars in FG form: Took only a surprisingly short time from the idea to the completion: Well done, Gentlemen. :)

Finally, after the aerial cam action and the Ringmeet group shot I said goodby to most people. And whilst shaking the hand of Joker he surprisingly presented me two of his paper maps covering the south of Germany, I assume partly because he really wanted to give me advise about some sightseeing roads on my way home, but I also assume it was mainly to give me some clever ironic payback for all the jokes I made during the last one-and-half weeks regarding his very own oldschool papery style of navigation. - Well played, Sir. And in the last minute.

Leaving Victoria Station heading towards home: This moment can also be seen as a drive-by scene in leviathan's awesome video. :)

Of course, it didn't took long until I met some sunday traffic: As soon as I joined the Autobahn.

But that cleared off soon, and then after about 4.5 hours: Schweiz! Home, sweet home!

That was it. 12 days underway. A few thousand Kilometers. One breakdown.
Will I be there again next year? - Yes. :)
Will I be on the N?rburgring again, as soon as possible? - Oh yeah. In three weeks already, (14-15th September 2013) to be precise. - Oh man, I got me the Ring bug. Very badly. :D

Thanks.
Greetings, lip

We've created a monster!

No, I'm a long way away from that: Small and loud squeeling winter tires will keep me from going faster around the Ring than my rudimentary talents can allow. - For now. ;)

Btw, when is the best time to buy a dedicated ring toy? - After the first two laps? Right?

Yes.

Hmm, just had a thought.... Could we combine dedicated ring toy with 500 euro cheap car:think:

The most reliable car gets upgraded to FG Ringtool

That looks AWESOME!

Also, the sticker for next year must have nuts.

 nice. My car just attracts the dust in the shape of a 4.

Also my car looks so out of place in the carpark at work and in the very middle class cul de sac I live in thanks to the skull on the back still :p
