DaBoom and me decided we wanted something different for the roadtrip in August so we searched the 'net for small convertibles. We found one just 80 km from me so today I went there, test drove it and took it right away. It's a blast to drive with the roof down, but I'll probably organize some sort of wind deflector. The car doesn't have back seats anyway so it doesn't block anything important.
It's a 1995 Suzuki Swift Cabrio with a whopping 68 hp from a 1.3 engine. That doesn't matter though since you'd have to weigh it down to stop it floating away in a light breeze (825 kg/1820 lbs). The fabric of the roof is just a year or so old, the frame is mended with gaffer tape though. It prevents rain from coming in, when I drove it back home on back roads a downpour came, fortunately I foresaw it and put up the roof. Engine and gearbox are dry, there is light rust on the door sills, but the car passed T?V in February. Tires are 4 years old and have lots of tread left, they should last the 4000 km trip around Europe. It has about 58000 km on the clock so that's very little for a 19 year old car. The brake fluid has been changed directly after it passed T?V because there was a note on the report that stated the boiling point was too low.
I don't know when the oil has been changed, but since it needs cheap 15W40 it won't break the bank to change it and the oil filter. Spark plugs shouldn't be that expensive, too, so those will be changed as well.
Equipment-wise it has ... well nothing except of leather seats - no air conditioning, no electric roof, no power-windows, no heated seats, no nothing, but that means there's less to go wrong. :lol:
The price of all that japanese magnificience? 1300 Euros.

That's an amazing find! We got those here as the Geo Metro cabrio and yours looks in better shape than anything you'd find around here.
