DaBoom and me decided we wanted something different for the roadtrip in August so we searched the 'net for small convertibles. We found one just 80 km from me so today I went there, test drove it and took it right away. It's a blast to drive with the roof down, but I'll probably organize some sort of wind deflector. The car doesn't have back seats anyway so it doesn't block anything important.

It's a 1995 Suzuki Swift Cabrio with a whopping 68 hp from a 1.3 engine. That doesn't matter though since you'd have to weigh it down to stop it floating away in a light breeze (825 kg/1820 lbs). The fabric of the roof is just a year or so old, the frame is mended with gaffer tape though. It prevents rain from coming in, when I drove it back home on back roads a downpour came, fortunately I foresaw it and put up the roof. Engine and gearbox are dry, there is light rust on the door sills, but the car passed T?V in February. Tires are 4 years old and have lots of tread left, they should last the 4000 km trip around Europe. It has about 58000 km on the clock so that's very little for a 19 year old car. The brake fluid has been changed directly after it passed T?V because there was a note on the report that stated the boiling point was too low.
I don't know when the oil has been changed, but since it needs cheap 15W40 it won't break the bank to change it and the oil filter. Spark plugs shouldn't be that expensive, too, so those will be changed as well.

Equipment-wise it has ... well nothing except of leather seats - no air conditioning, no electric roof, no power-windows, no heated seats, no nothing, but that means there's less to go wrong.

The price of all that japanese magnificience? 1300 Euros. :D

damn! that's a lot of fun you'll get out of a 1300 eur car, i am impressed

I never knew these existed, fantastic! :p

... Facepalm

Then laugh

Then cheer! :D

Awesome buy!!!

:lmao: That's an amazing find! We got those here as the Geo Metro cabrio and yours looks in better shape than anything you'd find around here.

NO YOU DID NOT!

I need to try this. There will also be drag races to see how far away everything else can get in a set amount of time...

Otherwise...:lmao:

Also 1300?? Wow talk about waste of money :p

Awesome! Now turbocharge it! Road trips in unreliable cars are boring

If you don't want a specific plate you get random letters and numbers, but for an extra fee of 12,80 Euros you can choose the letters and numbers after the SE which is the assignment of the district.

Do you have any suggestions? I'll register it on normal plates on July 1st (at the moment only seasonal plates from July to September), here is the check if the desired plate is still available. Since I'll get seasonal plates the maximum amount of letters and numbers is 7 (e.g. SE-YX 123).

Awesome, hilarious find! Have fun with it on the roadtrip and then take it onto the 'Ring. :D

Vanity plate? With SE there are possibilities... :p

Can you get vanity plates on it cheaply?
In Germany, vanity plates cost about ?10 to 20 depending on how greedy your local community is.

Edit: Ninja'd by Eye-Q. I suggest something with SE - FG ...

What a good Roadtrip idea and a great fun find.

Sell the car afterwards at the 'Ring and take the train home. (or get a lift.)

Oh, dear...

Then again, you paid only 1300 Eur. Much better than the clots who willingly paid over 10000 dollars here when it was new.

SE-NS 3?

(It makes none.)

How absurd! I love it.

Most registration offices in Germany don't assign NS because that's the abbreviation for national socialism, same goes for SS (Schutzstaffel), HJ (Hitlerjugend/Hitler youth), SA (Sturmabteilung) and KZ (Konzentrationslager/concentration camp) because it's "against morality". It's actually in the law, but "morality" isn't defined exactly...
