I met this Dutch family in UT at the Arches back on Sun the 7th. A week later, we ran into each other at the Grand Canyon.

Great pictures! What camera did you use? I'm really impressed with the depth of the pictures, especially the ones from the North Rim. My pictures from there are annoying... flat

Thanks! I used the Sony a77 with the 16-50 f2.8 lens. The images are in RAW and post processed in Lightroom.

What do you mean by your pictures are flat?

[Black Z Eddie]

I notice there aren't that many shadowy areas, especially on the vertical parts. To me, it might be the time of day; and/or the camera setting (eg, the Dynamic Range); and/or processing.

Also, looking at my original raw file, I did punch it up a bit along with other adjustments to get it to where I was happy with it. Having shadows did help put more depth into the image.
