You can't understand that some of you just don't feel like losing our time explaining something that won't change your view since we tried for more than a year now without success?

Because you are not suppose to debate with the goal of changing someone's mind. That is not how it goes. You state facts, defend your view and make them see your side. Bush didn't change his mind on how to do things after he lost the debates against Kerry.

And if someone changes their mind just by debating then what kind of convictions and strong opinions do you think that person has if they can easily be swayed.

If it bothers you to "waste time" to debate then dont post in political threads.

The republican party has become a biproduct of thinking to highly of one self.

Why did you have to add yet another stupid and meaningless generalization? Is it because I called you out on that lame and useless post you did?

Don't be a pouting child, please. If you don't agree with what I say, debate it. Don't try to make a subtle insult of the party I agree with because I lose more respect for you.

This is why I make comments regarding your posts because as a typical Liberal, you never want to debate the issues, just whine and complain and insult.

I think that is a really explaining sentence, it explains the egoism, the greed, the
lack of caring, and in the end it also weakens the country you feel so
strongly about because you stand less united that way. But then again,
it's your choice...

I'm still waiting to hear why I am, apparently in your eyes, wrong all the time. I also want to hear what you have to say to defend that obviously mindless generalization about these "evil" republicans you keep referring to.

Word. There is no reason to continue this debate

It's obvious you are not an informed individual with enough facts to debate properly and you resort to insults rather than find facts or defend your view intelligently. Be that as it may, you might as well just stop wasting your time in the political section. Your anti-Bush and anti-capitalist and anti-Republican comments will not be missed.

Offcourse you wont miss be presence! It will make you look less weak
You're pathetic Justin...

I'm still waiting to hear why I am, apparently in your eyes, wrong all the time. I also want to hear what you have to say to defend that obviously mindless generalization about these "evil" republicans you keep referring to.

I used a little quote from the movie "I'll sleep when I'm dead" because I thought
it is a funny one, and it would make you even more angry

About my "attack" against the republican party, let me try to explain. But offcourse
you won't listen anyways, so it's totally pointless. But here you go:

I said "...It explains the egoism, the greed the lack of caring.."

Because most republicans do not support a welfare sulotion, and they
seem so focused on becoming wealthy that they only care for their
own well-being.

I also said "The republican party has become a biproduct of thinking to highly of one self."

By that I mean that you don't want to be under any form of control so that your
"fantastic" person cannot unfold to the extend you would like it to. "Oh I'm so
special and unique, I have to have no limits so I can become the fantastic person
I am meant to be". Thereby wanting lower taxes, less equality (free schools, hospitals...)
and a more free economic world. Anther Enron? :p
It's like you don't want the poor and dumb* (*quote from justin) people to in any
way be in your way of becoming that great person of yours. Which is a really really
disgusting way of thinking of one self. This is the feeling I'm left with after listening
to your views for about a month.
You'll probably quote me a hundred times from this one, but I couldn't care less.
YES it is my opinion, YES you disagree, YES it is generalizing, and YES, I don't care.

Finally I said "and in the end it also weakens the country you feel so
strongly about because you stand less united that way."

It does because by discriminating the less successful you stand much
less united, and the seperation from rich to middle-class to poor is
so distinct your own people is not as united as one could be. Heh, that
reminds me, the most known tactic among fascist leaders is the so-called
"split-and rule" technique where the people is seperated so that a
dictatorship is far easier to run.. Anyways, there you go Justin.

It's obvious you are not an informed individual with enough facts to debate properly and you resort to insults rather than find facts or defend your view intelligently.

Hehe, there there Justin :D . It's just that after a while I'm just reading your
post and smiling, and I've realized that there are far more important things
for me to do than to spend countless of minutes digging up sources and
"facts" for you when you're so happy with your right-wing agenda anyways.
Which is fine, just don't expect me to care to waste my time on you. Post like
this one are different, this is fun, because what I mainly do is piss you off
with my own opinions

Ok atleast you explained yourself.

You're pathetic Justin...

Not hesitating to show your maturity.

Obviously you get that generalization from movies or tv. You clearly show no knowledge on the Republican party here and base most of your opinions on some of the things I said.

You're acting like a child and that pisses me off more than your biased socialist "we love our fellow countrymen but republicans dont" attitude.

Do not waste my time posting things just to get me pissed cause I just won't reply anymore.

Which is fine, just don't expect me to care to waste my time on you.

Clearly you show no patience for seeking the truth or debating your view intellectually and it shows in nearly all your posts.

Please, don't waste anymore of your precious time on me and my "selfish, greedy Republican" opinions.

I think it's really unfair to say that Republicans are selfish and greedy. Some Liberals don't comprehend why non-rich people would be Republican - It's because they believe that people should be allowed to keep what they earn (as much as possible). It's ignorant to say one party is bad, and the other is good, because in most cases both parties want what is best for everyone. It's just a different way of seeing something, and we should all practice tolerance.

Group hug baby!

An interesting statistic is that American people with net worth over $10million voted overwhelmingly for the Democratic Party while people with between $1 to 10 million voted mostly for the Republican.

Wealth is no longer a good indicator of political orientation, as both parties' platforms have been slowly converging for the past few decades. George Bush speaks of "compassionate conservatism" and Clinton's economic policy was more hands off than many Republican Presidents.

Finally some posts that aren't old generalizations. Nice comments guys. I can't argue against them, I agree.

Last time I checked, me and my bro don't have $1million to $10million combined and we are Republicans.

I think you guys have to read that I'm talking about the republicans as one person
here, as I pointed out earlier, Justin. So I agree, it is unfair to say that
all republicans are greedy and/or selfish. But some of their basic
p.o.v's certainly are quite based on the one's best being and not the masses'.

Well, I'm not really into politics and I don't enjoy political conversation often because ppl tend to get emotional (which is very natural) and the talk is usually not very objective (again natural) and above all because very few ppl do actually have the necessary knowledge to back up their views on politics. Politics is not easy and I am not willing to devote my life to studying it :)
This maybe my 2nd post in a thread in the politics forum :)
But about that

Hey Voodoo, do you have a distaste for Israel?
To make a very long story short, I tend to look at things from both sides before making judgements... I certainly hope things would cool down in the middle east and get it over with but I know it's not gonna happen (not anytime soon at least)
And I don't approve of what Israel is doing, but looking at things from their point of view I can see where they're coming from. They're trying to establish a country and they feel they have the power so they try to squash their enemies, it's not right but it's human nature and it's been done over and over for thousands of years...
Of course 99% of the ppl around here can't look at things objectively (edit: by around here I mean in Egypt), and specially muslims because many ppl seem to blur the line between religion and politics nowadays. Like that survey you talk about here in another thread.

And anyway, even if you don't like a country as an entity there is no reason to hate individuals cuz they're just human beings... I try to do that

Turns out I didn't make a long story short as I said in the beginning

I see you're a very wise man :) .
Quite often I try to be objective and detached, but sometimes I do get a bit emotional. :?

I dont give much for being 100% objective in a debate, it's different from
having influence on people like a broadcasting channel or a newspaper. In
those areas objectivity and being unbiased is important, a discussion on
the other hand is supposed to be opinions vs. opinions, not everyone
making a compromise for no aparent reason...

Being objective doesn't mean to have no opinion :)
It's about being able to admit your mistakes/faults, and flaws in your beliefs if you were convinced of them. It's also about keeping an open mind, listening to the other side of the story, having no prejudices, and avoiding stereotyping.
That to me is being objective and it's how I try to be, and I still have an opinion on pretty much everything in the world, including some seriously worthless stuff :)

Thanks! I try to be. I was waiting to turn 60 to earn the title but now I don't have to :)

I'm really impressed. 8)

The war is going on, and guess what US is losing.

 Here we go again

Define losing and Ill bring up a laundry list of how we are "losing"

oh and welcome to the boards.

Look at your dollar over its last 50 year period, the trend is alarming. Look at your performance of your future(primarily school students) comapred to Asian kids. These are just few of several other indicators.

Yes we have lower standards in education and especially in math but I dont see a failing USA. You failed to make a connection with our lower education standards and lower dollar due to the trade deficit with the conclusion that the US is a failing country or how we are "losing the war".

Losing the war or a failing country which is it?

Im sure we will see a decrease in immigrants coming here right? No one wants to live in this failed country of mine that is "losing the war".

I suggest you re-think and gather your thoughts and come back with something more conclusive.

Yeah, as long as the US has its political system the way it is the economy will do well.

We have sprung up a similar system in Afghanistan and will have one running in a month in Iraq.

Hows that for "losing the war"
