It's a lovely evening here so I went out to take some pictures of the Selfriges Building here. Thoughtfully, they built a car park oposite it which presents the perfect place to take some awesome pictures. I'm really getting to grips with my D70 now and tried out the RAW mode tonight along with getting some more practice with adjusting my own apature and shutter settings :)

The car is my Arosa Sport btw :D

Here we go:

Just as an illustration as to how important lighting is.....here's one I took in the middle of the day when it was cloudy. Pretty uninspiring when you compare it to the long exposure night shot above!

It's in Birmingham mate. Englands 2nd city (where I go to University). It's more and more popular here in the UK to have a little EU symbol on the left of the plate in a similar manar to the rest of Europe :D Hence why it looks like a German plate ;) It removes the hassel of having to get a sticker saying 'GB' to slap on the back of your car every time you go to continental Europe!

Oops, yeah when I googled Birmingham it showed the building on the first page.

And I saw this too, I love it: the church on the left! Or is that the city hall?

That would be Birmingham Alabama mate :) Same name.....several thousand miles between them! Also....your US one is pronounced Birming-Ham and ours is Birming-Um m :p The older building here is a Church. It outdates all of the buildings that surround it and is a little dwarfed by the surround place of retail worship :D The incorporated it into the design well though :D

The bottom picture is indeed the Town Hall here in our Birmingham. Not sure how old it is, but it's a really nice building :D That's about 10mins walk from where I took my pictures :)

Sure....obviously the ones above, but I also have a few others I'll post up. It's getting late here now so I'll wait till tomorrow to do it :p

i c you have fun with your new toy :D

very nice shots, keep posting them ;)
