alright guys 1st off thanks for just lookin in here.
my problem is that every time a program tries to start up this comes up

WHY!!!?!??! omg its so annoying. when i start up i have to type my password in for each little icon that starts at startup inthe toolbar and everytime i want to use anyything....EVEN PAINT! EVEN IE!

i have no clue what i did to get this

please help me get rid of it i hate it!!!
 
what OS?
reformat and install XP with SP2
u turned on some gay protection option it seems

no please there must be some soloution apart from reformat, i know that works but...my porno, my games, my tg/fg...my.......
 
It might be that the default action for opening executables has changed from "open" to "run as".
I don't know where to look to fix this.
 
dear god someone help me i have to type in pw and username everytime a program runs............

anyone know forums were people know this stuff??

i am sure someone here knows what to do1!!
 
You can reinstall windows without loosing all the good stuff on your hard drive... as long as you remove everything precious from my documents everything else will be there still after re-instalment.

I've had to reinstall my XP a couple of times already and have never lost any data because of it. So do not bother reformatting just reinstall your windows.
 
would it be possible for one of you guys to scrren shot your settings for your "run as" section? the scetion cruzz was talkin about. it would help me set mine back to the origninal. its becasue i tried doin the oppsoite of what the instruciton says and it still gives me the run as promte and is pissing me off dearly like a slow car on the overtaking lane
 
I guess it's an easy one, no panic
First right click your shortcuts that cause this dialog to appear and choose properties
See if the checkbox with "Run As a different user" is checked, if so uncheck it for each shortcuts.... That could be the problem, I am sorry couldn't attach screenshots cuz I am on Win2003 server so it won't match..
If it still persists it could be that the default action for exes has been changed as ESPNSTI said, if so just tell us here again and I'll send u the instructions on how to revert it :)
 
yeah when i start a program that box is still checked. i tried cruzz idea, doesnt work.

i tried to set what cruzz told me to do, to the same as the other XP HOME cpu's i have at home have as their settings. my other computers dont have that problem btw.

so in result, i need more ideas or soloutions. but! thanks for the help you guys have given me. it gave me some hope...BTW again, i have changed my password to 1 in result of the constant request for my password... proves how bothered i am with it
 
Change the service start from automatic to manual, reboot and see if the problem has gone away. If it hasnt then it's not to do with the run as service.

Quickest way to find out.

Also consider if its only happening on programs with the extension .exe perhaps theres a file type set, have a look in folder options/ file types, check the list, select and choose advanced, if there is a run as command in there that is bold then that will be calling the service, simply choose open or another option as default.

Does it happen if you double click on a jpg?
 
aite i turned it to manual and started it. nope does work. heres a screen shot of the settings. maybe u can see immediatly what is wrong by ur expereinces.

if u guys can be bothered. i can allow you to remote access my comptuer on msn or something and u can have a go fixing it.
 
he probably meant make it manual and stopping it not starting it....
 
xp is gay :) home is "gayer" of course.
for me it's either 2000 pro or 2003 server
