Show us your Lego!

Here's some more pics of the battleship, plus a Greek-style galley. You can also see the tower of Orthanc in the background of some of these pics, but I don't have a closeup on hand.

oh god... :? there go all the plans I had so far for this evening...

I?m gonna go find my camera, then I?ll go find a beer, and then I?m gonna start taking the basement apart... prepare yourself...

alright here it is, the thing that made up a large part of the meaningful content of my childhood, and the reason why it is vitally necessary that I have a son one day...

There?s one more box but I?m not sure where it is, I suspect it?s one of the ones with all the heavy shit stacked on top <_<

I haven?t opened these boxes for about ten years. I packed all the stuff for one of the many times that my family moved to another country yet again. Since this was right around the time where I started being more interested in girls and beer than toys, I never unpacked it...

I didn?t want to start unpacking all the stuff that?s wrapped up in plastic bags and duct-tape, because it would have led to no good. That black lambo-like 4wd and 4ws thing is probably the only set I ever had that I never took apart to build something different. The black thing on the left in the 7th pic is the remainder of a tank that I built as part of one of the many bases that I used to build in my room.

The propeller with the engine attached to it is worth noting, because it is the remainder of the biggest project I ever started. I had the yellow sea-plane that some of the Lego-veterans among you might remember, but I found it too boring, and decided to build a Me109. This project took me about a year, it had retractable landing gear, flaps, and all the other usual control surfaces you find on a plane. I have to admit that I never quite finished it, and there were always a few things that I couldn?t quite work out, in the end I took it apart to build something else, but this was near the end of my Lego-era, so that project was never completed...

You, sir, win.

I think I know exactly what floatplane set looks like. I also had that, or a similar set...was it a high-wing monoplane? I tried to rework mine into a Douglas SBD Dauntless dive-bomber, complete with wing guns, rear gunner, and bomb-release gear, but sadly I never took pictures of the finished product. This does give me an idea for the next FG meet... remember the grand finale to James May's Top Toys, where everyone went off to play with the trainsets? After the next Ringmeet, bust out your Lego collection and go mad.

well thanks... it actually felt great to see all this stuff again, childhood was awesome...

The building plan for the plane is actually at the top of the box with all the plans, I also found this on youtube:

god it was always so much fun to see something grow under your hands when you put it together...

here?s the supercar thingy:

yesterday evening I was actually thinking about just locking myself inside the basement for the week of vacation I have left. Fuck the Oktoberfest, all I need is a few crates of beer and I?ll go completely crazy with my Legos. I think I might just actually do that sometime.

I gotta say I haven?t really changed much. I felt the childhood memories coming back when me and my fellow students were putting together our Formula Student car. And as stated above, the difference between men and boys is only the price of their toys. I?m currently waiting for my next "building set" to arrive, a KW V3 suspension for my mini, that?ll give me enough to do, and today I plan to visit a friend and help him with the restoration of his NSU motorcycle.

Honestly, I think if I made an effort to catalog all the Legos I have and try to sell them on ebay, I?d easily get a 4-figure sum of money. But that would be like selling the most important part of my childhood, so it?s never gonna happen...

Oh man, i SO remember seeing the booklet for that Truck and boat flash combo <3

I'll take some pics later of older stuff (Bigfoot, chopper etc)

Yup, that's the one. It also had an "alternate mode" as a space shuttle if you assembled it differently.

I have sooo much LEGO. Unfortunatley most of it is disassembled now. I remember the first lego set I ever got was that little carrying case of lego with instructions to build one dude, one car, and onle little house. After that, I was hooked for years.

Not only yours.

I always wanted the supercar and the truck with the robotics system.

but today, you can even get death stars and star destroyers <3

this is the one that always filled me with jealousy (and kinda still does today):

it?s the one with the motor driven pneumatics stuff on it...

I can't even remember how many lego sets I had as a kid, something like a year ago I stumbled upon lugnet.com and began browsing the sets, suddenly I rememberd over dozens of different city/medieval/technics sets I used to have. And to be honest, I have no idea where the hell have all of those legos gone. Sure, my parents still have a few boxes of random pieces stashed around in a storage room, but not nearly as much as there used to be.

Then again it makes me all the happier that I took the best one of them all with me when I moved away, the Technics 8880 aka. supercar <3 it's my pride and joy and I still assemble and disassemble it from time to time (it would just collect dust if it was sitting on a shelf and I like putting it together, not just looking at it) :p Right now it's in a closet a few feet away from me, pretty much as a complete set (box, instructions, all the pieces), only missing some of the stickers. I always found the stickers to be a bit akward if you didn't want to just build a model and then leave it as it is.

Yeah, i had that. But currently all my legos are in 2 huge plastic chests in my parents place, and there's one very tiny piece that comes only with that kit that you need for the kingpin of the pivot mechanism. You guess.... I spent 2 hours looking for it before i gave up....

Loads of Lego in my house My mum loves it still and shes 42 so shes got all her sets from when she was younger. Ive got 3 boxes of the stuff and sets lying in my cupboard.

Looking for this on eBay as I remember when I was like 7 I really wanted this set so I saved and saved and then went and bought something else instead like a tit.

You can order it from bricklink. :)

This was the coolest I ever had. Tried to re-build it few years ago, but I just couldn't find all the parts. I have 3-4 boxes full of legos.
