Ownership Verified: So, I bought a Porsche.

I was SO PROUD of my parsh the other day. It finally went to a PCA meetup!

...then it left me stranded for a little while. There's some electrical shenanigans going on. :( I forgot to flip the killswitch, so it wouldn't start. Then I waited a little while, lifted the hood to see if the battery cables were on, and sure enough—after that, it fired up and drove back.

The oil pressure gauge also bounced back and forth a bit on the way home? Weird. Definitely electrical woe of some sort :( Why, parsh, why?

Glad you are taking it out and shaking the cobwebs off.

I still love the scallop paint!

I broke the 'lump.

Well, the starter's toast, anyway. We fixed the wiring that had frayed around it that was causing some smoking issues, but the starter itself has also given up. (Mood.) A few folks I know are checking to see if they've got a spare, but I guess it'll be sitting again for a while.

Spare starter acquired and installed. Sure enough, it started right up. Porschelump is BACK!

...right as it gets cold, and I'm still too broke to use it anyway. :(

Looks like the Porschelump is full of bad gas. THAT MAKES TWO OF US, BUDDY.

Tried to start it the other day, it turned over, and we just got a ton of varnish stank. It'd start running briefly on

Anyway, I'm aiming for the November MSR-H race and trying to get a bunch of laps in it before then to knock the dust off my [in-]ability to drive on track, so it's go time. I don't know if I'm going to rewire it before then or not—the wiring's old, but mostly intact, and aside from the starter piece we fixed, it's mostly just gauge messiness and a couple connections that I need to clean up.

It's so satisfying to figure out the problem, remove the offending part that caused the frustration, and yeet it into another time zone.

Welp, bad news on the injectors: the spares I sent for a rebuild were too corroded inside to rebuild. :(

So, I've pulled the ones that were already on the car to send off. I just want my parsh running again. :( :( :( :(

Organized some parsh parts today. I replaced the dead totes, tossed out some parts that were toast, pulled the spare spares that don't fit or otherwise deserve to be someone else's problem, and finally dropped the problem injectors in the mail.

Please work, please work, please work...

WE ARE SO BACK

WE ARE SO FRICKIN' BAAAAACCCCCK

(I hope)

THEY'RE HEREEEEE!!!

...and now no fuel is getting into the fuel rail, so it's probably a problem with the fuel pump and/or fuel filter, too. 😭

How old are your fuel lines? Old rubber fuel lines can collapse inside and block the fuel flow.

That's something I should look at while I'm down there. We've replaced a few, but I think there's some older sections in the mix.

MY GARBAGE SON STARTS!!!

Replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump, and voila. I think there's crud in the system, though, because the pump was all gummed up with brown crud when we pulled it.

The other issue is, well, the spare fuel pump leaks. I've ordered a spare in case it's not just the banjo bolt/check valve combo being a PITA again, but yeah.

MY GARBAGE SON STARTS AND SOUNDS SO BEAUTIFUL OMG

Lemons entry is in for November. Come party. Lemons. Party.

WE MENDED SOMETHING!!!

It's starting to feel real that I'm going to have a working track car back sooner rather than later. I'm just so, so out of practice that I'm not sure where to start. It sucks because playing on track used to be my whole thing, and welp. Now I suck at it.

It'll come back to you, just need to get some laps in.

Here's hoping. I kind of felt like "oh, this feels...right" when I got a test lap on part of Road America for a press drive a couple months ago, but that's really been it and backed way, way away from the limit as someone who hadn't driven there before and hadn't driven on track for a long time. :(

I need to drive it around a little more, then see if somewhere can check our belt work, then just run the absolute balls out of it on Harris Hill. (Also, finally rejoin Harris Hill! It's been too damn long, but without a car in track-worthy condition, 😭.)

Holy crap, FCP Euro's free shipping is fast as hell. I ordered the part Friday, and it gave me an ETA of Friday to receive my fuel pump, but no! It arrived yesterday.

I've dealt with enough fuel pump shenanigans that I ate the extra "lifetime warranty, send us your dead parts" cost for FCP this time, haha. I'm hoping this jinxes this one into working well for a long time.

New fuel pump is in. No leaks. Put some Seafoam in just in case, too. We'll take a look at the screen in the tank when the fuel level goes down a bit, but it shouldn't be as gummy and gross as it was. Anyway, the important part:

I DROVE MY PORSCHELUMP TODAY!!!!!!!

ETA: Proof!
