Ownership Verified: So, I bought a Porsche.

Lame: That noise wasn't fixable. The stupid tensioner rod failed AGAIN.

I've already got a new one in the mail, and it looks like it's coming from the same warehouse that sent my fuel pump surprisingly fast. So...SOON???

New tensioner rod in, new battery in, oil pressure monitor back in. The left gauge with the fuel level and temperature is acting up, but that's me. IT LIVES!!!

Currently having a shop double-check the belt tension and give it a once-over for "can I take this on track and not die?" I kind of figure the regional tracks won't like it if I oil down the track and leave a launched piston in the way, so I'm counting this as a safety expense. "Ehhhhh, ignore the interior and general aesthetics."

Are there a lot of miscreants at the Nordstrom end of the mall? Or are you referring to crimes of fashion?

Just me bringing the rent down (and working in a nice coffee house in the mall).

Updates since then:
- Clutch master cylinder failed and peed brake fluid all in my floorboard. Fixed it and sent it.
- Got a local shop to double-check the tension on the belts since we've been driving it a while. It was started by some ex-Porsche Austin folks and the guy working on my car knew both 944s and Lemonsing from running a BMW there. Neat! It's got a couple little leaks, but the head gasket's holding up and aside from getting the balance belts a little tight and attaching couple balance sprockets off by 180 degrees, we did pretty well DIYing it. Dude was even familiar with the Clark's Garage site we've been using as a reference, haha.

I should have it back today, so IDK — if I'm not too pooped, it might be time to finally crack open the Nürburgwine I brought home from Ringmeet that's been slowly aging away on my counter. (Side make-your-own-party-supplies homebrew project is going well, too. Malty!)

I really just have the items I budgeted after the team chips in left to do — acquire in-spec seat and belts that work with a variety of buttocks, replace windshield, refill fire bottle, new tires, replace or bleed fluids — the usual make-readies. Well, that and figure out the cursed battery box. It's been driving really well around town. Easy to get moving, peppy, etc. Next step, hoon on track.

Lame: After everything was back together, we discovered that the squeak squeak squeak was from a timing belt tensioner pulley, not the alternator like we thought. You know, after everything's been retensioned perfectly and is ready to go.
Not lame: Paragon — who sold me the timing belt kit in 2022 (!) — warrantied it out and we swapped it in. It runs again! No squeak!

Now I just need to buy the purchase-ables and hope it stays running OK.
