With any luck I'll be doing my full bike test in the next few months, just need some advice on what people reckon I should get.

I'm want a road legal trials style bike around 400/500cc 4 stroke prefable with electric start and able to hit at least 100mph.
I quite like the look of this

:p

I want a bike I can ride everyday and then use off-road at the weekends so it needs to be reliable and reasonable cheap to service. I also want to stick to the big makes, suzuki, kawasaki, honda, KTM etc, etc.

So what do you think???

Looks like fun. Your licensing system makes more sense than ours, we just need to write a test (very easy), then we can go out and buy the most powerful bike.

Ok, here is a 520 for you. I know its very quick, and it will do around 100mph, but Im not sure if it has an electric start:

KTM 520-EXC:

Here is another, its 640cc and goes like stink, it also has en electic starter. My father has one and its awesome, you also get em as 400's.

KTM 640-LC4

I think both bikes are available in Orange, Blue, Black and Red at least.
Only problem is that KTM's are kinda expencive someplaces, but they're definately best looking IMO.
Both are 4 stroke with six gear boxes too. Let me know what you think.

Wow thanks Danniel,

I did have a look at KTM 520-EXC it's a seriously nice bike, but I had not considered the KTM 640-LC4. I think I like that one even more and it comes road legal in stock form. The only thing that puts me off about the 640 is it might be a little to much for me (I'm not the best biker in the world :) ), I think that would be better as my next bike, then maybe I'll getthe 950

To be honest KTM is my favourite make by far :) the only thing that makes me a little unsure is as you said cost. I can't seem to find any proper KTM service places ethier. Where as everyone seem intrested in looking after honda's and suzuki's and they seem to go for about ?1000 less than a similar KTM which is a lot of cash.

I really don't know what to get, I've had a look around and narrowed it down to:

Suzuki DR-ZS 400
KTM KTM 520-EXC -(need to find a road legal one)
Honda XR400R -(again would need to find a road legal one)
A friend of mine says he used to race CCM bikes too, bike I can't find any to look at.

have you had any experiance of these other bikes?

ever taught about a monobike? setting up a mono to go off road is cheaper than set up a dirtbike to mono

and it looks so much cooler, with those smaller wheels

When you say monobike do you mean supermoto?? I've never heard of a mono though, do you have any examples bone??

it's basically the same as a dirt bike, but with smaller wheels, giving it better acceleration (but those wheels are SO expensive if you buy them afterwards)

this is a nice one

and this is the mono version of the KTM 640

bone - those bikes look like retard bikes due to the small wheels. :?

you think so? i love them, the more i look at them, the more i want one :p

and racing them must give an awesome kick

not one to mix your words viper

I must admit I think Vipers right in a way, the bikes look a bit wierdly proportioned. I don't think the small wheels will be so good off-road ethier. I can't find anywhere that sells this style of bike here, I'm fairly certain I 've never seen anyone riding them on the road.

thanks for you help though
