No surprise to see one reply (and not really a serious one) but many replies or attacks when it comes to Bush or his policy or the war in Iraq.

Where is the outrage here???

I guess this doesnt qualify under the world sport of Bush hating so it gets ignored basically. :thumbsdown:

I guess round these parts we just want to debate; Bush, the War and pretty much nothing else.

Western nations (i.e. democracies) keep dictators in power. This is an example of that. It is disgusting, but not surprising. Corruption is all around us. A lot of the contractors doing work in Iraq now (under American supervision) have been stealing millions of dollars as well.

Is it just me, but is the whole idea of oil for food kinda disgusting as well.

We are discussing the War and Bush so often, because of the importance it has on the today's politics and not to forget that these topics are always present in the media.
The oil for food program on the other hand is over, it's finished. Now it's time to evaluate it and to punish the companies that cheated during this process.

Yeah like France, Germany, and the rest of the EU. And isn't that what the US is doing in Iraq, punishing the dictator and his minions who cheated during this process. I wish the liberals would make up their mind about this. First they say no you can't go to war there is no reason, then when stuff comes up, they yell why aren't we doing anything about this.
 
Not surprised to see this. German corporations have a long history of supplying Iraq
and later Saddam with equipment and Weapons.

Nazi Germany gave them weapons to fight against Jews in 1941. The NSDAP kept close ties with the Arab world since they basicly had the same enemies. Jews and The British.

Lots of their leaders at the time admired Hitler and I read some time ago that the Ba'th party has been founded after the principles of the NSPAD.

Later staff of the Ba'th party has been trained in the DDR and they kept in contact with Germany even after the reunification.

They had the contacs and the goods the Iraqis wanted so German firms took the oppurtunity and sent them what they wanted, even if it were such unimportant things as centrifuges to enrich uranium. Siemens in this case.

and of course your privacy or the fact that your government constantly spies on you and is going to be tracking your vehicle everywhere you go really isn't a big deal at all, :?
 
I take it you are also outraged about "cookies" and the information stored on them about your internet use.

What about the Department of Motor Vehicles having your address and age and even, GASP, your social security number!! All that information that could be bought buy some corrupt person.

So the govt knowing where you drive must be the straw that broke the camels back right?
 
You should really read the thread before jumping to conclusions. and then post in the applicable thread, instead of one that has a different topic.

Since when are countries companies?? You really include Russia in that list, and in case you are really interested you could read the report. The main corruptive payments were made out of France and Russia, which isnt really a surprise anyway.
And I do not see this as a good enough reason to go to war, since you can deal with this in the countries where these companies are based.

You should not forget that the all the major oil companies (Shell, BP, Repsol, even Total) were not incriminated of corruption. The only major oil company that paid indirectly for oil-for-food program was Texaco, which is a part of Chevron. And Chevron has again been given contracts in Iraq now.
