As usual probably pushing my luck, but there's been some interesting and fairly terrible Special 'n Limited Editions over the years.

Hey! I always loved the harlequin VW's. They brought me joy as a child.
 
The VW Harlequins are AWESOME. It's the kind of thing that you'd expect a factory worker to come up with when they're drunk. "Hey, what if we built 5 cars in different colors and then swapped around all the body panels!?"
 
I swear, I think I've seen a Golf Harlequin before here in CA. I was very confused when I saw it, but it might have been one someone custom painted too.

Also, the other day, I was walking from school to get coffee and I saw a Suzuki SX7 sedan that had a "Special Edition" on the trunk. I couldn't actually figure out what was so special edition as it looked like every other SX7 I've seen (interior and exterior wise).

Might have been a dealer special edition, where they put together a car with free air con and alloys etc and sell it as one.
 
Oh maybe. I admit, I don't know very much about SX7's, but it really didn't look much different than any other one (there's a few of 'em rolling around here).

I don't know if it Alloys, the rims where different I think than the other SX7's. (I was more surprised that it was on an SX7 because I'm used to seeing that sort of thing on fancier cars).

I wanted to take a better look at it, but it was gone 20 minutes after I saw it when I walked back to school so I didn't get a chance. >:
 
"Special edition" can also be a ricer thing that doesn't actually exist from the factory or dealer, in the same way that some cars with aftermarket vinyl roofs will have a "Presidential" seal on the rear pillar. By the way, do you mean Suzuki SX4?
 
Hurm, the car looked stock, non-ricer. It looked like some "normal" person's car. It honestly did not look any different at all (except for it was a sedan and all the other ones I see are the hatch).

Er, maybe. See I don't know anything about it. xD
 
Also if a model is due a replacement, the factory will throw together a model with free extras and give it a stupid name. Reduce price by few hundred pound.

Sometimes these trim-level ricers are otherwise subtle about it. I saw a Mercedes "CLK320" once that looked completely unmodified, except for the fact that it was actually a 4-door C-class.
 
I would've asked the owner if I had saw them, but I missed them so I guess I will never know. I almost took a picture of it even, but I think they were nearby in the building it was parked in front of so I didn't want to look like a creepy stalker.

It didn't look particularly old though, and the "Special Edition" text didn't look like it was added by some shop or something.

This. Or sometimes the dealer will throw in some floor mats and cheap aftermarket alloys and give it a REALLY stupid name.
 
Land Rover has done a couple special editions, most notably (and most orange) are the G4 Challenge Editions.

And I can't forget what's probably one of the most famous special edition cars. My dad used to have one just like it but without the decals on the sides. :cry:

My brother used to have a 15th Anniversary Edition 1984 Trans Am. That was a fun car to drive.

We know theres 4.8 trillion Mustang 'special editions' this one is the only one that matters IMO.

I always loved the one special-specialversion of the Golf, no such an G60-16V-Limited-Edition-One-Blue non-sence.

Triumph Dolomite 1500SE, a top-spec last of the line special made in 1980. All were black with silver side stripe and with unique Triumph Spitfire style wheels, also had chin spoilers and half leather half velour blue/grey seats. Oh, and a nicer veneer applied to the dashboard and door cappings.
I don't tend to rate 1500 Dollys as I distrust the engine but I would gladly have an SE.

I like it, but Dollys need quad headlights.

Only available online through Fiat themselves, an awful car given an equally awful paint job. Theres one near me. :(
