Buying a Sigma 28-70mm F2.8 EX DG from a mate ...

I was looking into a cheaper version of a 70-200 Canon L and came across this for around ?600, nearly a ?1000 cheaper, what you guys think ?

I don't know very much about lenses, but I think people generally get sharper results with Canon lenses, so it's of a what you're willing to pay thing.

I currently have the Sigma 70-200 2.8F DG version of the lens. I love it. Its fast, accurate, sharp, and quite. I really like the fact that it includes a tripod ring which canon makes your buy on the side. The only negetive effects from this lens is the fact that the zoom is backwards from other Canon lenses but you probably know this since your have other Sigma equipment. I think you will find the speed of this amazing looking at your equipment. This is really a step up in a lens. It is kind of heavy but you get use to it. If your interested in photos I have taken with it let me know.

I bought the Canon ?2.8L 70-200 (non IS) a month ago and haven't looked back. I've handled a few Sigmas and from my brief encounters, I'd say that the Canon is head and sholders above in build quality. I'm sure you'd be fine with the Sigma and make great images but you could also save a bit more and get the best there is Just my 2 cents. Although 1000 euros is a persuasive argument for the Sigma

the Sigma 70-200mm DG HSM AHDF FGHI lens is quite the very nice lens.

the pictures are comparable to those put out by the 70-200mm F/2.8L
and it is indeed cheaper.

i'm just glad Nikon has a 80-200mm F/2.8 going for about a grand..and then the 70-200mm VR F/2.8 going for $1600. i have a choice, both genuine Nikon.

The sigma fell through

So to cheer myself up, I've ordered an F3.8 28-135mm Sigma instead, maybe go forthe 50mm during the summer. The 28-135 will be an ideal walk around lens, no need to be changing lenses every 5 minutes !

Comes with a Hood too for free so cant complain !

Also ordered in the RS60E3 Wired Remote and a Stofen Diffuser for the flash that still hasnt arrived

Next on the list is the 2 Point External Car mount and the Sigma f2.8 70-200.

I'm officially broke. Although, I cleared my camera loan today so at least I don't owe anything !

ive heard the sigma 70-200 2.8 can be soft at f2.8

softer than the canon 70-200 f4 L at f5.6

but sometimes you get a good one.

id be saving for a canon 70-200 f2.8l, really its the multi purpose lens everyone serious should have,

and yes, the soften omnibounce works well, use it on ALL flash shots (and at the drift'omhiska comps as well, it will help with the detail.

do you have a canon 50mm f1.8, very cheap and very good (for the money)

or a f1.4 if you can afford the extra..

I've got the Sigma 100-300mm f4 and IMO it's fantastic Great lenses especially if you don't want to pay silly money for the Canon or Nikon versions.

Got ANOTHER e-mail from WarehouseExpress saying that what I ordered is out of stock, so that makes all four products out of stock and now on order for me. They never bother to reply to any e-mails when I ask when the stuff is due in or how long I have to wait.

Sorry, I didnt buy from elsewhere ...
