At the upcoming Geneva Motor Show BMW will release the sporty three-door variant of the current 1 Series model which so far was available as a five-door only.

However, this will not be the only variant of BMW?s smallest model, here are the very first pictures of the future 1 Series Cabrio, taken during a short test drive in Munich?s city traffic. The prototype in the photos still has some BMW typical disguise on, yet clearly visible is the canvas top.

While the 1 Series sporty three door will be in the dealerships coming this summer, the convertible?s launch cannot be expected before at least a year from now.

^Those spy-photos don't reveal much. Heres a photoshop of what someone thought it would look like. But obviously, there will be a canvas roof as we now know.

Would anyone like to emphasise how badly they DON'T want this car :p

Not the most exciting machine I've ever seen. The front grille doesn't look like a BMW anymore either, or maybe they've just removed some of it so that people don't recognize the car all that easy.

I'm just glad to see they've stuck with a fabric roof, instead of going with a folding metal job and giving the car a huge arse to fit it in.

As for the car - a three-door coupe version of the 1-series with the 3.0l engine would get me interested

You can't really tell anything out of those photos other than it's a 1-series cab. If you look at the door handles and and other places you can see the car is covered with a shell covering the shapes...

OMG, how can you even doubt that they are gonna make the kidneys? Thats like a Ferrari without the stallion.

As for the PS photos, i hope the rear lights are not going to be anything like that.

i have a feeling it'll look like a tiny previous gen 3-series convertible with Z4 tailights, in other words: shit

BMW in my eyes with the exception of the new M-coupe and M6, have gone down the shitter. its like they have stylists from GM. and thats so sad to say :(

I think it looks rater neat - a little bit girlish perhaps, but then the 1 Series is the perfect car for career orientated business woman (whom you can see quite often behind the wheel of the 1) - what worries me more is the photoshop which looks worse than the taped prototype.

The M6 is imo even worse than the other BMWs stylingwise. The front reminds me of rabbit teeth. You know like this:

Wow, what a waste of cash.

But to be honest I would much rather have one of these them the 1-series we know now.

Yeah I think your right. How much does it look like a mini-M3 from the side...not cool

dunno what to think of the lately bmw styleing. the 7 for instance i taught was fugly when it first came out, now i find myself weirdly attracted to it. hope it's the same for the other models as well

A tad too ugly - perfect for calling it a BMW

This car reminds of the old e30 chassis, which I believe to be the funest non-M 3 series.
Unfortunately, I bet it still weighs over 3200 lbs as opposed to 2800 of the older ones.
If only saftey wasn't so important...
