The current Vectra's looks have received a rather lukewarm reception, and will be toned down in a minor facelift this autumn. The new-look Vectra will be rather more conservative - especially in saloon form, as pictured here - with reshaped headlights, a new grille and extra old-school chrome highlighting, such as the strip along the bottom of the windows. Under the surface, the steering will be revised for a sportier feel, and suspension modified to sharpen up the driving experience.
A couple of new engines will make their debut in the range: the 215 bhp GM 2.8 V6 petrol, as in the Cadillac CTS, and probably the more powerful 180 bhp version of the Fiat-GM 1.9-litre diesel unit, as in the Saab 9-5 and upcoming Cadillac BLS, though this will not happen until at least well into next year.
The Vectra will also gain the new 140 bhp 1.8-litre petrol engine, as in the latest Zafira. Further into the future, there'll be a hot VXR version using the 2.8 V6, tuned for around 250 bhp. Similar changes will also be made to the very closely-related Signum range.
