These are the first photos of the upcoming M version of the BMW 3-Series Coupe. It can be recognized from the two big exhaust pipes at the rear and the large air intakes below the front license plate. Power for the Coupe and the upcoming Convertible comes from a variety of six-cylinder engines ranging from a 180-hp, 2.2-liter in-line six to a 258-hp, 3.0-liter six. The M3 will get a 4.0-liter V-8 delivering around 400 hp.

 ... 4.0l V8  but does anyone agree with me the new M-series doen't look "M" enough... they seem so toned down

I guess thats the point of it though I would like to see it looks more
aggressive. I want people to know how much you have payed for it!

i hope it gets the side grill again, i love that on an M3

but I think I'll trust BMW... as JC said, BMW has never made a bad M5 and it doesn't look that bad and the sound of the engine just evens everything out, I hope we can still say there has never been a bad M-powered BMW when this one comes out :D

IMHO the M3 doesnt need replacing. It could do with the new engine however its
the last good looking BMW and I dont want them to go banana's on the new car
like they have on all the other BM-models.
i'd still take a CLK55 over an M3 any day ;)

well... as a Bimmer fan... I would take any BMW over any Mercedes... except the CLS :D ... I 100% agree with you, the current M3 doesn't need to be replaced at all, even with the current engine, it could still kick some ass :D

they hiden the car quite well. What about the front brake disks? In E46 M3 they are perforated .. here we will have bigger engine and they looks like normal?

uhhhhhh whats wrong with the current m3???? i think this is really ugly for a bmw... and i like bmws new styling. not good

well it needs that v8, cause it gotta go head to head with the RS4.. or it will be left behind! the trunk is kinda long, no? will be waiting for better pics to judge

No, he's not, he's the head of something there tho, I forget.

I think this new M3 is gonna be great. The E60 M5 isn't much agressive, for a BMW with a V10 in it, but I'm expecting the new M3 to be more agressive.

But I think this new V8 engine might be a step to big for what we were used to. This is an engine like a Ferrari F430  . What engine will they use in the next generation a V10 ???

I might be wrong ( and I know I'm gonna change my mind ) but right now I think this V8 is too big for the car. It's a feeling :?

The current M3 with the new M3's V8 would be perfect. I saw the new M5 at the Toronto Auto Show recently; even in real life it is horrendously ugly. An M3 with flared headlights like the M5 would ruin the front end.

Well, i think they have to change the deisgn, because the current M3 is getting boring and old, it still looks kool though, i specially like the M3 CSL-wish they were here in Canada

P.S. Kool avatar, That's the movie Professional (?), Jean Reno?

I wanna see if Bangle got hold of the ass...

I heard that he's not the BMW designer anymore (?)

awesome news....the less input he has on design, the better
Maybe BMW hire someone worse than Bangle, you never know
The best design was the Z8's design, a Danish dude designed it, he was great, but he only designed the Z8 for BMW, not another car, i think he was way better than Bangle
