Stupid Driver Stories

From today:

First one is typical: Left lane becomes the turn-left lane and many drivers are simply unable to slow down and let the traffic pass. Instead they squeeze themselves in, risking a crash. That Mercedes driver would have maybe lost 10 seconds, if he slowed down and waited, until the right side was clear but obviously that is too much of a demand.

Second one: No indicating, no accelerating, head tilted to the right. Yup, you guessed it: Audi driver talking on his mobile phone. I had to beep out my comment.

I fucking HATE when people pull out in front of me with no care for the fact that someone is behind them.

This one was in the news here sometime ago: (Too bad I couldn't find the road camera footage)

"Road camera films woman reversing her car on busy highway to have a snack

One of the cameras positioned on Juscelino Kubitschek bridge in Bras?lia to monitor traffic captured a dangerous stunt. Last thursday at 9PM, when the bridge still has a heavy amount of traffic, a driver turns on the emergency lights of her Vectra and stops in the middle of the highway, forcing other cars do change lane. The Vectra starts to slowly move backwards, and cars start swerving to avoid colliding with the car, untill it finally stops at the shoulder on the bridge's entrance.
The images show then a woman stepping out of the driver's seat and calmly walking towards a hot-dog stand, where she stops to have a meal.
The car was identified by DETRAN (our road authorities) and the owner located: A man who had sold the car to the woman a few days before, and still hadn't transferred the car's papers to her name. Because of that, the DETRAN has no way to know the woman's name and hopes the police can track and locate her based on the images; where she will have her driver's license revoked. As for the car's previous owner, he will have to pay for all infractions when the woman decided to have a snack during rush-hour."

Im blown away by how people neglect the reality of automobiles. They can kill you and most just dont get it.

Yeah, specially those 140yr old drivers who own gigantic 4x4s and forgot how to use the rear view mirror when changing lanes <_<

In the words of Jerry Seinfeld:
"When you get old, the tendency is the house starting to shrink, and the car starting to grow untill both are the same size"

@Sik pony: Ah, you're in Florida. You probably already had to avoid one or two old geezers on Cadillacs

PS: I'm not saying old people are bad drivers, but a person needs to be able to recognize when it's time to start taking the bus.

As my old teacher used to say, "A car is a two ton bullet".

Worse, cars are much more dangerous than guns or bullets. Get hit by a large caliber bullet at full velocity, chances are pretty decent you might survive.

Get hit by a speeding car at highway speed, pretty much game over. KE=mv^2, and cars are a lot better at energy transfer than bullets. Bullets are also not generally guided missiles and cars are.

To say nothing of the number of casualties even an inept or insane motorist could rack up by making an 'impromptu' drive-through out of a mall or school - makes shooting spree maniacs look like pikers.

Something I think about every day as I throw a leg over my bike and fire it up.

So I was in a roundabout, a rather small one, going straight on (second exit). Then, a girl driving a Hyundai i10 who arrived from my right side (for me, the first exit), *saw* me coming and entering the roundabout, and yet shoved herself in front of my car. She received a beep and a nigga please expression :p

Oh, and-

KE=(mv^2)/2
fix'd :p

You know, at first I thought the parade of men in silly hats were cooks/bakers from the rear of the store, but then saw the other angles. Good Samaritians are not dead, thank God.

And this happened with me once. Sadly I couldn't stop in time :(

Result (in my case): One broken leg, and the loss of my chevette.

Sucks what happened, but can you really describe a wrecked Chevette as a loss?

I tease, I tease. I know how much it sucks to lose your ride. It's just that the Chevette was never anything to write home about here in the States.

This is the embarrassing moment a motorist caused chaos in Monaco when her Bentley was involved in a collision with four other sports cars. Hundreds of tourists watched in shock as the hapless blonde crashed her ?250,000 Bentley Azure outside the Principality's Place du Casino. The driver of a white Mercedes S Class worth ?75,000 was the first victim as the Bentley scraped down the side of it before crashing into a ?140,000 black Ferrari F430. An Aston Martin Rapide worth ?140,000 and an ?80,000 Porsche 911 both suffered damage after being involved in the incident.

Money can't buy everything (for example the ability to drive without crashing)...

Now, that's nice:

I was at a traffic light, waiting to turn right. The light had just turned green, and the line of cars started moving. Now, the street I was turning into is two lanes, so even if people coming from the opposite direction should let me pass first, I usually keep the right so they can turn too if they keep their left into the left lane. Except... the girl on moped coming from the opposite direction turns left directly in front of me, cutting me off. I honk quite hard, and SHE is the one that flips her middle finger to me...

Here's one. I was driving along on suday in the right lane of the highway when a nissan maxima cuts me off and STOPS. Not just cut me off slowly, pulled out into the highway and STOPPED. This isn't a tiny highway it is a busy multilane one where the average speed of traffic in that lane is like 70.

My car has excellent brakes, and thank god for that.

That stuff is scary to hear. A friend of my parents had this happen to them, but weren't able to stop in time. The driver of the other car was an 80 or 90 year old woman and was killed in the crash (resultant heart attack or something like that).

They weren't dead, just a horrible driver. They started back up to go slowly along after but god, that person should never have been driving.

My family's house is at the end of a one way street, yet everyday people drive in front of our house and do 3-point turns to drive out the street the WRONG way.

Earlier today a young woman with a car full of friends swung into the street at terminal velocity stopping inches from the back of my Dad's Skoda Octavia. She then crunched the gears attempting to find reverse before speeding out the junction without looking when no driver would be expecting a car to be leaving the one way street the opposite way.

How can people drive in such careless manners?
