Most convertibles look like dildo's. Especially BMW and Audi.

So ... no thanks.

Driving a convertible is pretty stupid to begin with :p (they are almost as bad as FWD!)
I'm going to ask you why you don't like convertibles, and if your answer is something benchracer-worthy about how the reduced structural rigidity and increased weight means reduced performance, I will personally fly down to your backwoods city and punch you in the kidneys. :)

Just don't understand the point of lopping the roof off, it doesn't seem to enhance the experience in any way for me, also in NYC there are like 3 days of convertible weather, other times its either too hot and humid or too cold. Also (and this might not be the case for all cars) when I drove the Mustangs at the event (both were verts) I could see both through and above the windshield which was pretty annoying.

But after that we going for beers!

To me, a sports car that is a convertible is a waste. The two experiences in my opinion are too different to be combined. When I drive a sports car in a spirited manner, the wind and noise detract from that drive. Now a nice Catalina, or an old school Impala with a soft top for that cruise go very nicely together.

Well there you have it. New York probably isn't great for drop tops. The west coast, however....

I think if you're talking about overpowered sports/super cars, then I would agree with you. But for something that is arguably underpowered (or "just right"), like a Miata, the experience is bordering on transcendant.

I have been in cars like a MG and a Triumph Spitfire with the top down. I also found my friend's 67 Vette a better experience than those. :dunno:

I found that driving with the top down felt kinda... free? the car isn't as dark inside, as the sun shines into your car, no roof to block it, just a sunroof has some effect when open fully, i enjoy it. but i do also have a RWD wagon to play with.

Man, so many shit drivers over the past two days. Mostly yoofs.

First driving home from work on Friday, met a Fiesta halfway around a corner that was right in the middle of the road and going way too fast which forced me onto the grass, no damage thankfully but I didn't manage to get his numberplate or anything. Then a mile later a seagull flew straight into the front numberplate, thankfully it was a small young bird so no damage aside from some paint fell off the rust...

Today, driving home after collecting a parcel from the post office. I'm heading down a hill at a steady 55mph with a couple of cars behind me keeping a good distance. The out of NOWHERE a 4x4 of some description comes flying past me, must have been doing 100mph+, I damn near shit myself. He was being tailed by a Civic Type R but we were coming up to a tight right hand corner with no visibility so Mr Civic stood on the brakes and pulled in right behind me and sits about 30cm from my bumper. He brakes for the corner because he likes going fast but obviously can't drive and I take it with my usual degree of aplomb and gain some distance. The next section of road is a sweeping left hand bend and then a sharp right which is blind and then you enter a village with a 30mph limit. He decides he wants past me (because old car = slow despite the fact it just out cornered me) and pulls alongside just as we enter the corner, at this point I don't want to lift off the throttle as I'm driving a rwd car with skinny tyres on a wet road (I've had the 1300 play the lift off oversteer game before and it's not fun) and he's attempting to pass me on the outside but is can't put any power down for fear of understeering up an embankment with blind corner looming ahead. Thankfully nothing was coming the other way and he managed to pull ahead of me before the turn and then shot through town at more than 30mph.

I dislike impatient people, people who do shitty overtaking manoeuvres and cross the centre divider on blind corners in order to get to work 5 seconds sooner...
I was in a long queue of traffic behind a lorry t'other week and an Audi passed each car individually on blind crests and corners and with junctions coming up ahead etc and then passed the truck JUST as we entered a 30mph zone and immediately pulled into a driveway. He reached his destination NO FASTER than if he'd sat at the back of the queue the whole time and if he hadn't been lucky in that nothing was coming the other way during his dangerous overtakes things could have been really messy.

I always found that hilarious, I saw this today some dude in a Charger was tailing me (on a highway interchange at that) we hit a pretty tight turn, I just keep the throttle at the same position and he gets lost in the rear view. Bonus for all this, I was in the Subaru.

The 2-lane highway I drive most often (Missouri 171) is a nearly straight shot for about 7 miles from my town until the next. When it goes into Carl Junction it makes a couple of tight turns that can easily be taken at 60 mph, Many people want to go 65-70 on this road, but won't pass and tailgate for no good reason. I can usually shake them around those corners. Nothing feels better...

Heh walking away from people in corners is one of my favorite things to do in the Fairlane. I often get people riding my bumper when I am on a drive, itching to pass me (and I've seen some very stupid passes because of this) but usually, if they stay behind me, they vanish in the distance behind me as soon as we hit some corners. I try to maintain my speed through most corners, but it seem like most of these people who are in such a hurry to get in front of the old rusty car, are apparently terrified of falling over in a corner or something. :dunno:

That happens to me a lot too. People tailgating you on a straight who misteriously fall back if you just keep your speed on a corner.

I am always amused by people who are "racing" you when you are just going about your business. Driving home just now it started raining and I'm in the Z so taking it relatively easily, some dude in a Max gets up my tail pipe then cuts off a few cars to get around them and me. Further up the road the right lane opens up so I switch over (dude's now in the left lane on someone else's ass) so since lane is empty I pretty much just accelerate passing a pack of cars then go back into middle and like 2 miles up the road guess who's up my tailpipe again... Luckily some beamer dude decided to race him later on so he went away.

I've gotten that before, especially when I had the SHO. I just ignored the revving of their Cobalt SS' and riced out Honda's and puttered away.

Didn't help that I couldn't shift fast for shit if I wanted to so it was better than absolutely embarrassing myself.

On an empty enough road, with good weather I'm usually up to playing around a bit but not when traffic is thick enough when you have to cut people off to get ahead.
